PublicationA simulation study of wireless network performanceWSN technology has now become ubiquitous due to its flexibility, efficiency and affordability. For example the nodes in a WSN can be easily deployed in any targeted area and last for many years. The nodes can supply reliable data from within the environment with minimal disturbance to the target area. However challenges remain in providing real-time communication in some communication hostile conditions. It may not always be possible to leave the sensors in situ but instead data collection is through the use of mobile a WSN. For example as a vehicle fitted with sensing devices passes through an area of interest data is collected and relayed at certain gateway nodes back to a backhaul network for processing. In this paper our aim is to analyse the interference caused by a mobile jammer node to the stationary transmitter and receiver nodes in a network by using the OPNET Modeler software. This is early stage work aimed at developing a mobile WSN node in our future research.

The purpose of this instrument analysis is to measure the six main study constructs, which are: (1) organisation performance; (2) talent management practices; (3) management innovation practices; (4) knowledge management practices; (5) top management commitment; and (6) dynamic capabilities. A set of questionnaires consisting of 111 items from 6 construct related to this study were compiled based on the literature search. The questionnaires are distributed to one hundred (N=100) senior managers in Malaysian Public Sector and completed the questionnaires. Respondents used a five-point Likert-scale coded as strongly disagree=1; disagree=2; neither agree nor disagree =3, agree=4, and strongly agree =5. The Winsteps software Version 4.4.7 is used to check the functionality of items and the items removal accordingly to the item's polarity statistics as well as suitability. The findings showed that most of the items are found to be suitable with the model because MNSQ values are 0.60 - 1.40 [1] except for seven items with one item indicated a negative point measure correlation, thus confirming that overall items discrimination is good. The findings also found that seventeen (17) items are dropped due to same correlation of residuals for two items and another fourteen (14) items are dropped as the result indicate that the item measuring the same logit with ZSTD value beyond the range [1]. Item reliability and separation is 0.92 and 3.33 respectively. Meanwhile, person reliability is 0.98 and person separation 7.68. In total, thirty-eight (38) items were dropped based on the Rasch analyses with 73 items remain. The statistical analysis proved strong indicator that is in support of the scale validity as well as reliability for the instrument construct. PublicationPerformance analysis of heterogeneous database management system (DBMS) synchronization using message Digest 5(AIP Publishing, 2020)
;Ayu Helinda ;Zuhar Musliyana ;Desita Ria Yusian TB ;Mahendar DwipayanaCurrently, the Database Management System (DBMS) keeps growing and is available on various platforms. The use of various types of DBMS in a system can cause problems with limitations in the synchronization process because each DBMS only provides synchronization methods for similar DMBS. Previous research has examined heterogeneous database synchronization algorithms on mobile devices using the Message Digest 5 (MD5) method. The process of synchronization with this method is done by comparing the hash values of each record data in the source table with the data hash values in the destination table. If a different hash value is obtained, the synchronization process is based on the type of transaction that has been determined. Based on the principle of work, this algorithm requires a long synchronization time for large-scale databases because it has to check the hash values of each data record. This study examined the performance analysis of the DBMS synchronization method using MD5. The testing was performed by observing the parameters of execution time of synchronization ptocess for the MySQL DBMS and PostgreSQL types. The results showed that the execution time of the MD5 synchronization process was proportional to the number of data records that need to be synchronized. This is because the hashing process that must be done on every data record and synchronization mechanism requires all data to be sent to check and compare the hash values of each data record in the destination synchronization database even though the data has not changed.25 9 -
PublicationPerformance evaluation on locomotion system, body size and hull design on amphibious-based design of unmanned ground vehicle using Taguchi method(AIP Publishing, 2023)
;Mohd Iqhwan IzharUnmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) is a robotic structured-based vehicle that operated on the ground but did not contain any human on board. It controlled either autonomously or remote controlled by a human operator from a distance. The operator observes the situation by using a camera that contains live feed that had been attached to the UGV. More advanced version of UGV is called "Autonomous UGV", where it controlled fully by sensors system. Thus, make this version of UGV highly reliable in replacing human for doing jobs in hazardous area or a place that is impossible for human to reach. This paper study the performance evaluation of UGV in term of their locomotion system, body size and hull design by using Taguchi method. The current UGV design under study is less flexible as it only operates on land. The objective of this study is to identify the optimal design parameters of the UGV towards amphibious functionality development. This study bridge the gap between engineering and management perspectives in reducing the time needed to perform testing on new design and reducing cost of experiment by using the Taguchi Method. The result shows that the ideal parameters design combination based on the signal-to-noise ratio calculated using the larger the better formula is the wheeled locomotion system with 350 X 250 X 200 dimension of body size and round-bottom shape of hull design.2 3 -
PublicationPolitical connection and earnings management in government statutory bodies(AIP Publishing, 2023)
;Mohd Fairuz Md. Salleh ;Punithavathy JoteyZardasht Abubaker Qader BarzinjiThe purpose of this study is to explore the influence of political connection (PCONN) on earnings management (EM) of the Government Statutory Bodies in Malaysia. This study utilises qualitative approach by using semi-structured interviews with former auditors of Malaysian Federal Statutory Bodies (MFSB). The findings demonstrate that PCONN is not a threat to EM in MFSBs. However, a good governance practices is needed to ensure that political connection in the board is responsible for the correct company's financial reporting and at the same time does not lead to ethical lapses. This study outlines the need for stakeholders to consider objective mechanism in addressing the poor governance in government statutory bodies as a way to minimise EM problems. The findings are explained through the lens of agency theory. This study represents one of the first studies that focuses on PCONN and EM in government statutory bodies by using qualitative approach. The results have proved that political connection is not the primary threat to EM in government statutory body.3 1 -
PublicationResource allocation to mitigate channel interference in mobile wireless sensor networks(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2015)
;Robert StewartSean KennedyWireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are formed with multiple sensor nodes that use the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol. The WSN can operate in 16 different channels in the unlicensed Industrial, Scientific and Manufacturing (ISM) 2.4 GHz spectrum. The WLAN or IEEE 802.11g/n protocol also operates in the same spectrum. Additional problems arise when the WSN is mobile. Mobile WSN's are more efficient in scenarios where mobility is needed to collect data from remote target areas. Moving nodes may encounter overlapping frequencies from WLAN coexistence in its journey. Therefore, WSN channels have to be allocated intelligently to avoid channels overlapping with the WLAN. However with mobile WSN the WLAN networks encountered may have random spectrum allocation depending on the WLAN technology in place. A good resource allocation approach is needed for the sensor nodes to dynamically change their working channel to avoid the overlapping channels which cause interference to the network (either WSN or WLAN) which impacts the service delivery. This paper focuses on the interference when the mobile WSN and WLAN both exist in the same building. The analysis presented is based on the percentage of packets dropped and percentage of packet re-transmitted for each sensor node in the experiments. The outcome of this research will be valuable to research and development of WSN applications in terms of reliable service delivery.1 11 -
PublicationSpeed optimisation of the mobile PAN coordinator for QoS enhancement in IoT networks(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2016)
;Robert StewartSean KennedyThe Internet of Things (IoT) network is typified by deployments such as a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). These WSN's are commonly deployed within a target area for a specific task such as farm monitoring and asset movement control. A group of sensors are typically led by a Personal Area Network Coordinator (PANC). In some situations like in large scale greenhouse monitoring, mobile PANC are required to eliminate energy-hole issues and hence improve the performance of the WSN. The energy-hole issue is a problem caused by the depleted cluster head nodes. In this paper we analyse the performance of a WSN with a mobile PANC. Using inputs from previous empirical studies we designed a scenario of a mobile PAN coordinator using a simulation package. The performance was evaluated. The mobile PANC speed and contact time is monitored and the average network throughput and delay are measured. Based on an analysis of these results a comprehensive set of guidelines are provided for operators of IoT networks. These guidelines optimise the network performance and ultimately lead to cost savings for network providers.3 9 -
PublicationThe convergence of per-capita income in Aceh Province: study before and after the transfer of special autonomy funds (Otsus)This study aims to analyze convergence of per capita income of districts/cities in Aceh Province. The study period is divided into two phases, namely the phase before the transfer of autonomous funds (2001-2007) and the phase after the transfer of Special Autonomy Fund (Otsus) in 2008. The model used is a panel data regression model that is grouped into both phases. In addition, to see convergence of per capita income between regions in Aceh Province, sigma and beta (absolute and conditional) convergence is used. The results show that, first of the sigma convergence phase analysis prior to the transfer of special autonomy fund, GRDP-per capita experienced a census indicated by the value of standard deviation that fluctuated with the downward trend, then in the phase after the transfer of funds of economic autonomy of Aceh also experienced convergence indicated by the standard deviation value fluctuates with the downward trend. Second, for the second phase beta convergence analysis, the phase before the Otsus funds transfer and phase after the transfer of Otsus funds shows that there is no convergence of GRDP-per capita but the divergence shown by the initial positive-marked PDRB-per-capita coefficient value. While the influence of other economic variables such as Capital Expenditure, Total Labor Force, and Total Factor Production in the phase before the transfer of funds Otsus affect the GDP-per-capita. While in the post-autonomous transfer phase none of the exogenous variables affect the GRDP-per-capita.

;Harniyati Hussin ;Intan Maizura Abd Rashid ;Mastura Roni ;Amirah Hazimah Borhanordin ;Syahiru Shafiai ;Elsayed ElsiefySocial distancing has been regarded as a key method by the authorities worldwide to manage the pandemic of COVID-19. Digital technologies play a crucial role to support the social, professional and economic activities when people are forced to stay locked-down in their homes. Internet of things (IoT) technologies have a track of providing high quality remote health care and automation services which could guarantee social distancing while maintaining health and well-being of populations. Online payment transactions have make the negotiation effective in e-commerce as consumers did not have to go out of their house and go to the bank just to make a payment. Nowadays, there are many banks in Malaysia offers the online payment or online banking for their customers in order to make their customers satisfied with their services and to gain profit. Next problem that can lead to customers' dissatisfaction when online purchasing is fraud and security. Consumers always feel worried about their financial and private information being reveal to the public. Self-regulation by the industry, since the laws in Malaysia and other parts of the world are quite vague, educate themselves as to how their personal data can be protected to understand consumer rights and deficiencies of the law. The growth of Internet has welcomed more windows of opportunities for computer crimes. Statistics show that there are currently 26.3 million Internet users in Malaysia and is expected to increase to 29.4 million users by 2023.1 11
