PublicationConceptualization of co-worker support: A qualitative study among human resource practitioners( 2023-04-24)
;Mohd Fitri M.Along with rapid industrial and societal transformations, Human Resource (HR) profession is one of the professions that play a pivotal role in the organizations to keep abreast with the changes. Transformations will be accompanied by the changes in values, thus requiring HR practitioners to make constant revisions in the employment law and practices. In this challenging environment, employees are expected to assume greater responsibilities in or to adapt to the changing environment successfully. Such a challenging environment can be strenuous to employees. In order to cope in such an environment, employees often seek support from their social relationships at work. Therefore, this study attempts to explore the concept of co-worker support among HR practitioners. Based on the findings, six themes of co-worker support were identified. A clearer conceptualization of co-worker support established contributed to the body of knowledge. Practically, the conceptualization of co-worker support can be used to assess support-related issues pertaining to social relationships at work, which can help organizations undertake appropriate actions to strengthen employee relations and create a harmonious working environment. -

;Mursyidi MohammadMeaningful work has gained increasing attention due to dissatisfaction with job demands and a search for purpose. Drawing on extensive prior research, this study explores the significance of a sense of purpose, social connection, and self-esteem in meaningful work. The researcher's approach combines a thorough review of past research to establish a robust foundation by administering questionnaires to 309 participants. Rigorous statistical analysis was then employed to reveal the intricate relationships between these psychological factors and the perception of meaningful work. Individuals with a sense of purpose tend to find their work imbued with meaning, providing direction to their daily lives. Additionally, positive correlations emerge between social support, pro-social behaviours, and meaningful work experience. Conversely, underemployed individuals tend to report fewer interactions with co-workers. This research underscores the central roles of sense of purpose, social connection, and self-esteem in shaping perceptions of meaningful work. Insights gained from this study can inform strategies to enhance meaningful work experiences and promote well-being in the workplace. -

This rampant situation creates 'rubbing salt into the wound' for many enterprises in order to survival and sustain in the market. Enterprises should alter the business strategy from the traditional way of running the business to the new phenomenon of business strategy i.e. crowdsourcing practices. In view of the above, the aim of this study is to investigate how the SMEs could minimise the operating costs in order to boost business performance mainly COVID 19 pandemic. Specifically, the objectives of this study are to examine the impacts of crowdsourcing practices, crowdsourcing cost reduction towards business performance for SMEs in Malaysia. The findings revealed that, the crowdsourcing practices and crowdsourcing cost reduction positively significantly to the SMEs in Malaysia in order to enhance the business performance. This study also highlights practical and theoretical contributions, significant of study; limitations and future study as well as conclude the entire study. -

;Alim MaktarLeadership is a critical component in business management, and in some situations, it can be vital to the survival of a company or organization. The concept of leadership has been extensively studied across various disciplines, yet the specific domain of engineering leadership remains underexplored and poorly defined. Every engineering organization, regardless of size, requires leaders and employees to execute projects to ensure their organization's success. This review article examines the existing definitions of leadership and engineering leadership, highlighting the lack of consensus in the field. By analyzing current literature, the authors identify the key attributes and skills associated with engineering leadership and discuss their relevance to contemporary engineering practices. Our findings reveal a fragmented understanding of engineering leadership, underscoring the need for further empirical studies to develop a cohesive and comprehensive definition. This article aims to provide a foundational understanding of engineering leadership and proposes directions for future research to bridge the gaps in the current knowledge, thereby paving the way for the development of robust theoretical and practical frameworks in engineering leadership. This paper focuses on leadership in the engineering context as the engineering sector plays a vital role in addressing sustainable development on a local, national, regional and global level. Companies want their employees to understand the company’s vision and objectives and meet the individual goals set by the managers. The insurance industry in Bangladesh has stagnant growth compared to other industries. Moreover, insurance companies are lagging in managing human resources, especially permanent employees. Sustainable employee performance will help companies to achieve sustainable growth. This study aimed to identify the influencing factors that impact sustainable employee performance of insurance industry employees in Bangladesh. The study utilized the social exchange theory as the underpinning theory. The study modified the social exchange theory and proposed a research framework with five indicator variables: compensation, job satisfaction, work environment, leadership style, and motivation. The survey included 200 insurance company employees from various departments and companies. The collected data were analyzed using the partial least square–structural equation modeling (PLS–SEM) method using SMART PLS 3.2.7 software. The findings revealed that all the factors significantly positively impacted sustainable employee performance. The results of the study are helpful for academicians and researchers to analyze employee performance further. In addition, the results will help insurance companies and policymakers to make appropriate decisions to ensure sustainable employee performance in the organization.1
