This paper specifically conducted to (i) identify articles that discussed computational thinking (CT) and segmenting principle, (ii) classify the various research domain and context are discussed in previous studies related to segmenting on CT, (iii) synthesis the results that are reported by relevant studies on CT and segmenting principle. The steps taken for these systematic reviews are adapted from PriSMA (2009). Out of 231 articles retrieved, 22 of them were identified for analytical purposes in tandem with the observed theme under keywords searched “computational thinking AND segmenting” and then, those articles are thoroughly reviewed. It is because computational thinking is changing the way we think and become an integral part of our daily life. 18 out of 126 articles were identified for analytical purposes in tandem with the observed theme under keywords searched “theory AND computational thinking, theory on computational thinking” and 2 out of 4 articles were identified under keywords searched “learning theory AND computational thinking, learning theory on computational thinking”. This paper aims to study what are the recognised learning theory being studied and focused on computational thinking scope research areas. Further exploration on the type of research theory, type of intervention and respondent as well as technology being used or developed are discussed in details in this paper. The study findings highlight that constructivist learning theory is the well-known learning theory being used in computational thinking research area which focuses on primary and secondary school students in worldwide.6 17 -
PublicationAdaptasi model kesejahteraan digital UNESCO dan UTaut2 lanjutan: kajian kesejahteraan digital terhadap belia di MalaysiaThe development of information and communication technology (ICT) accelerates the process of adapting to digital life. Digital practices and behaviors in life have significant impact both positively and negatively. However, digital media users are always exposed to cybersecurity threats that undermine their digital wellbeing. This paper focuses on the relationship between cybersecurity, media and information literacy (MIL), digital literacy, and digital readiness towards the digital wellbeing of youth in Malaysia. This framework combines the advanced version of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) and the UNESCO Digital Wellbeing Framework. The proposed methodology for this study is a quantitative method using an online questionnaire with respondents selected through simple random sampling. The study's results are expected to determine the level of digital wellbeing among Malaysian youth in particular. In addition, this study also predicts the variables that influence the digital wellbeing of youth. The results of this study provide theoretical implications for the combination of the UTAUT2 theory and the holistic nine-dimensional digital wellbeing framework. In addition, the results of this study can provide input to stakeholders to empower cyber safety advocacy programs, digital literacy education, and the development of youth digital talents.

PublicationApplying diffusion of innovation theory and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) on farmers’ use of communication technology( 2016)
; ;Rosli Mohammed ;Mohd Khairie Ahmad ; ;Mohamad Rezal Hamzah ;Hayrol Azril ShaffrilThe study is focused on the use of communication technology in agricultural development. It is inevitable for the farmers to utilise the communication technology, which is a well known innovation, in order to get hold of various agricultural information that could help them to heighten the quality and quantity of agricultural products. Innovation is the implementation of ideas, products, practices, and services that adds the value to individuals (Rogers, 2003). The Malaysian farmers are merely way behind in terms of utilizing communication technology, which have prompted the researchers to look at this phenomenon in greater depth. The aim of this study is to help more farmers to use communication technology, henceforth naturally increases the number of knowledgeable and informative farmers. Based on Diffusion of Innovation Theory and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Techology (UTAUT), this study observes the effectiveness of the combination of these two theories specifically on the use of communication technology among farmers. The construct of innovation characteristics includes relative advantages, compatibility, trialibility, complexity, and observability, whereas the construct of technology acceptance includes effort expectation, performance expectations, social influence, and facilitating situation. A total of 398 malaysian farmers were involved in this study as the respondents. The result shows that the use of communications technology such as interactive media and social media, can largely be utilised by the farmers, as the use and the acceptance of communication technology have increased. A linear regression test has shown the effect on the Diffusion of Innovation Theory and UTAUT is at 10.2 variance changes. Thus, the combined use of these 2 theories suits effectively to be the foundation to investigate the use of the communication technology among farmers. This model can be improved or further modified for future research to identify other factors that could play a role in the use and acceptance of innovation, especially among farmers.4 21 -

; ;Norkhairi Ahmad ; ;Norlizawati GhazaliEunice M. AclanThe competition and pursuit for better ranking within the academia drive a more prevailing and urgent need to increase the number of research publications. This paper examines twenty research article introduction sections written in English to identify the rhetorical patterns and structures for better understanding on how the writers write. The research articles are written by the Computer Science researchers in Malaysian private universities. This paper presents the results of the move analysis on the rhetorical structure of the selected text and the descriptions on how the moves were accomplished by the writers. In general, the results show that the writers utilised the Create a Research Space (CARS) model by Swales (2004). The three moves suggested in CARS model are establishing the research territory, establishing the research niche and presenting the present work. While all the three moves suggested in the model are fulfilled by the writers, some of the rhetorical steps which are proposed as obligatory steps in CARS model are being underutilised. Such underutilisation calls for more emphasis and employment on the respective rhetorical steps. The respective rhetorical steps are presenting positive justification, summarising methods, announcing principle outcomes and stating the value of the present research.6 52 -
