PublicationPerpendicular High Isolation MIMO Antenna( 2022-01-01)
; ;Sabri N.H.M. ; ; ;Husna H.This research presented a perpendicular high isolation MIMO antenna for LTE advance application. A high gain perpendicular MIMO antenna is concentrated on designing used in LTE advance application. The issues of low isolation of conventional antenna can be solved by structuring a MIMO antenna in order to increase the isolation in LTE advance application. Generally, the array antenna design causes a bigger antenna size and has a mutual coupling which lead to spectral efficiency damage and reduce the MIMO antenna framework performance. The substrate material like FR-4 is choosing as a dielectric substrate due to its good performances for many applications beside it has a low cost and more usable. The advantage of copper such as has a great relative material, cheaper and easy to construct is choose in this project as a conductive material. ADS software has been utilized for the structure stage to design the antenna. Then, the results are evaluated in terms of return loss (S11 and S22), mutual coupling (S12 and S21), match impedance, directivity, radiation pattern, gain and radiated power. Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) is used to measure the fabricated antenna. The factor of cable loses and the soldering technique will make the measurement result was slightly change from the simulating result. However, the antenna design satisfied the proficiency necessity of the antenna which the frequency is drop at 2.5 GHz with the return loss is below than −10 dB. -
PublicationIdentification of ARX Model for Thermoelectric Cooling on Glass Windows( 2022-01-01)
; ; ;‘Aqilah Che Sulaiman ; ; ;Arith F.Thermoelectric cooling (TEC) is a solid-state heat pump that uses the Peltier effect to dissipate the heat generated by the electronic packaging system. TECs are widely used in aerospace, military, scientific work and industry due to small size, lack of moving parts, and ease of integration. In this study, a cooling system integrated with TEC is developed in a testing area (lecturer’s office) with the aim to reduce the temperature of the hot glass window area due to solar radiation that passes through it. This cooling system used direct TEC, for keeping the cooling temperature on the window to about 26 °C which is equivalent to an air conditioning setting temperature of 26 °C set during the experiment. This work includes experimental and modelling studies conducted on cooling systems integrated with TEC. The main target of this study is to develop a dynamic model of a cooling system integrated with TEC. The black box modelling approach in producing a mathematical model was selected based on the ARX model that corresponds to the actual dynamic state of the cooling system. The best model was finalized based on the best match on curve patterns when comparing the real and estimated models using the system identification tools in MATLAB, and also had the least error. The accuracy of the models was compared and analysed. The results showed that the 4th order of the ARX model produced a higher best fitting and standard deviation values of 78.14% and 0.030769. This system accuracy is almost within the acceptable range for most error calculations in the validation method. In addition, the ARX model is found incapable of achieving the highest fitting due to the losses from the dynamic environment and losses from the TEC itself. Still, the use of this black box model used in this study is a significant variation where system parameters can be identified even offline. -
PublicationClass Attendance System Using Viola-Jones Algorithm and Principal Component Analysis( 2021-07-26)
;Yaakub N.D.A. ;Nasrudin M.W. ; ;Ismail I. ;Yob R.C. ;Zhe L.W.Face recognition is one of the numerous biometrics approaches that can be implemented by smart and automated attendance management systems. The individual identity can be determined by the unique representation of the face structure of each individual face and it cannot be lost, stolen, or reproduced in the same way as other types of identification. Thus, this work is motivated to propose a class attendance system based on face recognition. With current approaches such as passwords, access cards, and identification numbers, face recognition can be used to prevent theft and fraud which can significantly reduce the chances of system hacking. In this proposed work, initially, video framing has been implemented by activating the Universal Serial Bus (USB) camera through a user-friendly interface which was created with Graphical user interfaces (GUI) in the MATLAB software. The image of each student's face that was snapped by using the USB camera will be stored in a dataset. The dataset then will be divided into the training set and testing set. In the detection process, the Viola-Jones algorithm is utilized to detect and segment the image of student's face from the video frame. Next, the scaling of the size of the images is carried out to prevent the loss of information in the pre-processing phase. Then, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is utilized in the face recognition process in order to extract the features from facial images. -
PublicationSmart Classroom for Electricity-Saving with Integrated IoT System( 2021-12-01)
; ;Nordin N.A. ;Ismail I. ;Jais M.I. ;Electricity-saving can be achieved through the efficient use of energy, such as turning off lights and electrical appliances when not in use. Therefore, this work proposed the smart classroom for electricity-saving with an integrated IoT System to prevent wasting electricity in the classroom. Smart Classroom means that it will detect and count the number of students entering and exiting the classroom by using a sensor system automatically. The main objective of this work is to control the lighting systems and fans by using the IoT application and sensor system. This means that when the sensor is triggered, the sensor will send data to the Blynk application software using IoT to display the status of the classroom. This proposed work is also able to detect whether a classroom is available to use or not based on the presence of people. If the classroom is being used, the Blynk application software will show the lamp and fan are ON. Otherwise, the lamps and fans are OFF if there are no people in the classroom. The result successfully shows that if the first student entering the classroom, all the lamps and fans are ON. While, if the last student exiting the classroom, all the lamps and fans are OFF. This result also indicates that electricity can be saved if all appliances in the classroom are switch OFF at the right time.10 22 -
PublicationAquaponic Ecosystem Monitoring with IOT ApplicationAquaculture is an agricultural technology that combines aquaculture (fish farming activities) with hydroponic activities (planting crops without soil media) in one circulation. The most important element in aquaculture is the existence of fish, plants, and bacteria. These three elements form a mutually beneficial relationship or symbiotic mutualism. The main purpose of the aquaculture system is to maintain water quality and reduce ammonia levels from the water so that it can be utilized by other organisms. In addition, aquaculture can also save space and can produce two types of human food simultaneously, plants and livestock. Agricultural technology design with Aquaculture also uses the concept of Internet of Things (IoT) as information from sensors and sensors of value generator is accessible through applications installed on smartphones from anywhere with an Internet connection. Development of monitoring of aquaponic ecosystems with IoT systems was developed using a program using micro-controls to control temperature, humidity, pH levels and water pumps. There are some improvements made to this project.

PublicationDielectric properties of Nephelium Lappaceum tropical wood( 2020-03-25)
; ; ; ; ;Zaizul M.A. ; ;Dahham O.S.Dielectric properties of rambutan wood (Nephelium Lappaceum) were investigated in three anisotropic directions, namely miters-cut, cross-cut, and rib-cut. Dielectric constants and dielectric loss factors were measured at ambient temperatures by using an impedance analyzer. The dielectric constant decreased as frequency increased from 4 to 1 MHz. Among the wood specimens, the rib-cut direction has the lowest dielectric constant, while the cross-cut direction has the highest value. A dielectric dispersion occurred within frequencies 100 Hz to 10 kHz, which corresponding to a relaxation peak as observed on dielectric loss factor spectra. The relaxation peak value of the dielectric loss factors shifted towards higher frequencies in the sequence of rib-cut, miters-cut, and cross-cut specimen. Above 500 Hz, the cross-cut specimen has the highest value conductivity than others. Generally, these variations were subjected to the anatomical structure in the wood, such as parenchyma, ray cell, vessel cell, and fiber cell.41 2 -
PublicationImplementation of Two-Stage Multilevel Inverter System using PIC Controller(Penerbit Akademia Baru, 2022-10-01)
; ; ; ; ; ;In this study, the Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel Inverter (CMLI) is described for use with infrared dryer loads. Because of the low harmonic distortion content and reduced voltage stress in the switching devices, CMLI is one of particular interest. The CMLI topology and the Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulsed Width Modulation (SHEPWM) technology were studied and evaluated. To evaluate the inverter, SHEPWM modulation was studied and applied. The system also includes a DC-DC converter. The converter was designed to be used in infrared drying system powered by direct current (DC) power where an increased output voltage is required. This study also presented an evaluation of performance using infrared load of the CMLI based on power used at 100 W. As a result, a comparison of input power was made, and an assessment into the converter's power quality in terms of harmonic content and overall efficiency was conducted. The implementation of the system by hardware had been able to reduce the harmonic to 15.5%.5 35 -

PublicationAn IoT-based automated gate system using camera for home security and parcel delivery( 2024-02-08)
; ;Jamaluddin A.F. ;Ismail I. ; ; ; ;Abdul Rahim A.N.The Internet of Things (IoT) has made it possible to set up smart home security and parcel delivery. Therefore, this work proposed an automated gate system using camera for home security and parcel delivery with integrated Internet of Things (IoT). An automated gate system will capture and identify the image of face visitors and delivery riders for admin authentication to open the gate and parcel box. This proposed work is controlled and monitored through mobile apps. The primary purpose and inspiration of this work are to help the delivery rider put the parcel into the parcel box provided if there is no person in the house, and the owner can pick up the parcel without being broken or robbed when she/he comes back home. When the delivery rider presses the button near the gate, the admin will receive the notification "Someone coming,". The admin will click the "okay"button and the system will take a picture using the camera in Blynk App. After the admin verifies that is the delivery rider, the admin will open the box and the delivery rider can access the parcel door box and put the goods inside the box. Another advantage of this work, it also allows familiar people to access our home. The same process with the delivery rider where the visitor needs to press the bell and the admin needs to verify before the visitor can access the single gate. The result indicates that this work is able to monitor and control the gate and parcel door box using an IoT application.31 4 -
