PublicationFactors of E-commerce adoption by tourism-based SMEs In Melaka, MalaysiaE-commerce is in rapid growth nowadays. An SME has to adopt e-commerce in order to continue surviving in an intensely competitive environment. However, it was showed that there is a slow succession from the use of e-commerce among tourism-based SMEs in Melaka, Malaysia. As a result, this research is carried out to identify the factors of e-commerce adoption. Technology, Organization, and Environment (TOE) Framework by Tornatzky, Fleischer, and Chakrabarti and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) Theory by Rogers were used in this research to explain the independent variables in affecting e-commerce adoption. Along with, this research also analyzed the demographic information, descriptive results, strength of each independent variable towards the dependent variables. Generally, this research is a quantitative study. 15 respondents were selected in the pilot test. All the variables are excellent reliability due to the Cronbach’s alpha of more than 0.80. Convenience sampling technique was being chosen to collect our research data. The questionnaire was distributed to 118 respondents of tourism-based Small and Medium Enterprises (TSMEs) in Melaka, Malaysia. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data of this research. From the result of Regression Analysis, it was found out that technological context, organizational context, environmental context, and individual context have a positive relationship with e-commerce adoption. Therefore, the organizations are able to increase their e-commerce performance by verifying the factors in their e-commerce system. This research suggests the future researchers to replicate the study in other industries or the other states in Malaysia which involved a bigger size of the population to make the result more generalize and increase its accuracy. Future researchers also may distribute the questionnaire by visit personally to the SMEs rather than the online distributive survey in order to have a faster response from the respondents.

PublicationSpeed optimisation of the mobile PAN coordinator for QoS enhancement in IoT networks(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2016)
; ;Robert StewartSean KennedyThe Internet of Things (IoT) network is typified by deployments such as a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). These WSN's are commonly deployed within a target area for a specific task such as farm monitoring and asset movement control. A group of sensors are typically led by a Personal Area Network Coordinator (PANC). In some situations like in large scale greenhouse monitoring, mobile PANC are required to eliminate energy-hole issues and hence improve the performance of the WSN. The energy-hole issue is a problem caused by the depleted cluster head nodes. In this paper we analyse the performance of a WSN with a mobile PANC. Using inputs from previous empirical studies we designed a scenario of a mobile PAN coordinator using a simulation package. The performance was evaluated. The mobile PANC speed and contact time is monitored and the average network throughput and delay are measured. Based on an analysis of these results a comprehensive set of guidelines are provided for operators of IoT networks. These guidelines optimise the network performance and ultimately lead to cost savings for network providers.4 16 -
PublicationA simulation study of wireless network performanceWSN technology has now become ubiquitous due to its flexibility, efficiency and affordability. For example the nodes in a WSN can be easily deployed in any targeted area and last for many years. The nodes can supply reliable data from within the environment with minimal disturbance to the target area. However challenges remain in providing real-time communication in some communication hostile conditions. It may not always be possible to leave the sensors in situ but instead data collection is through the use of mobile a WSN. For example as a vehicle fitted with sensing devices passes through an area of interest data is collected and relayed at certain gateway nodes back to a backhaul network for processing. In this paper our aim is to analyse the interference caused by a mobile jammer node to the stationary transmitter and receiver nodes in a network by using the OPNET Modeler software. This is early stage work aimed at developing a mobile WSN node in our future research.

PublicationThe development of a web-based claims system(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2009)
; ;The main purpose of this study is to develop a computer system for University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) staff to make claims via electronic media. Since this system is Web-based, staff can make claims anywhere, anytime and at any locations. This method can overcome not only human errors but also more efficient, fast and accurate. Therefore, this system can also save time, effort, and administrative costs. In this study, active server pages (ASP) has been chosen to make the calculation and also to generate reports. After the system has been developed, a test was conducted using forms that have been simulated manually. The purpose is to enable the researcher to make comparison with the ones made using the developed system in order to detect errors or flaws from the manual simulation in the system.1 30 -
PublicationExploring the determinants of purchase intention on social media: A study among university students(Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), 2025-02)
;H'ng Yi Jia ; ;The rapid expansion of Social Media (SM) has revolutionised consumer interactions with digital content, creating both opportunities and challenges for businesses aiming to influence purchase intention. This study investigates how perceived value, informativeness, and personalisation shape purchase intention on SM platforms among university students at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Malaysia. Addressing the need to understand the drivers of effective digital marketing, the research employs a cross-sectional design with data collected via a random survey of 375 students. Multiple regression analyses reveal that while perceived value and informativeness positively influence purchase intention, personalisation unexpectedly demonstrates a negative relationship. These findings underscore the nuanced role of personalised advertising and the potential privacy concerns associated with it. The results highlight informativeness as the most significant predictor of purchase intention, emphasising the importance of delivering relevant and valuable content. In contrast, personalisation’s negative impact suggests a need for cautious implementation to avoid alienating consumers. This study enriches existing literature by bridging theoretical insights with practical applications, offering actionable strategies for optimising consumer engagement in digital marketing. Practical implications emphasise balancing value delivery and addressing consumer apprehensions in personalised marketing to enhance consumer trust and drive purchase behaviour effectively. This research offers a foundation for future exploration of consumer behaviour in SM contexts.4 1 -
PublicationFactors that influencing green purchasing behaviour towards ecological product among Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) studentsNowadays, numerous activities have been conducted by all the people and government to support green concept. However there is still exist issue regarding the environment occur in Malaysia such as the cost of waste management from 2016 to 2017 are keep increasing from RM200 million to RM250 million. There were three objectives in this research that are (1) To examine the social influence effecting green purchasing behaviour towards ecological product; (2) To examine the environmental concern in influencing green purchasing behaviour towards ecological product; (3) To examine the environment attitude in influencing green purchasing behaviour towards ecological product. To complete this study, researcher used Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) to underpinning the study. Primary data were collected through questionnaire by using 5-point likert scale in order to investigate our research objective. 268 sets of questionnaire were collected from University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) students. The SPSS was used to analyse the descriptive analysis, reliability test, multiple regression and Pearson correlation analysis. The result show that the there are two significant factor that influence green purchasing behaviour towards ecological product among students that is social influence and environmental attitude but not significant factor is environmental concern.
