PublicationDesign and Simulation of High Gain DC-DC Boost Converter System for PV Application( 2021-01-01)
;Mohd Muqri Syahmi Sulong ; ; ; ;Aihsan M.Z. ;Habelalmateen M.I.Solar power plays a vital role in renewable energy systems as it is clean, sustainable, pollution-free energy, as well as increasing electricity costs which lead to high demands among customers. The main purpose of this paper is to develop an approach to designing a DC-DC boost converter for a standalone connected photovoltaic system with constant output voltage. A controller system DC-DC boost converter is designed to minimise losses and maintain at a particular value. The converter can increase a fluctuating voltage of the solar panel to an increased constant DC voltage. It uses voltage feedback to maintain constant output voltage. The controller is therefore designed as the heart of the closed loop system and offers pulse-width-modulation signal for control of the power electronic device in a boost converter. The boost converter can direct connection to the photovoltaic system grid-connected inverter. Simulations to describe the design proposed have been performed. Simulation work with the designed 75V output voltage boost converter in continuous driving mode was carried out. The test results show that the design proposed is successful.1 -
PublicationDesign Three Phase Inverter for Compressor Drive using Single-Phase AC Source( 2021-01-01)
;Faudzi M.A.F.M. ; ;Mohd Z. ;Aziz A.A. ; ; ;Alkhayyat A.Abdulsattar A.M.Inverters are commonly used in high power applications for induction motors, air conditioners, and ventilation fans. The use of an inverter can save electricity consumption and maximize consumption on the compressor. The compressor runs slowly at night, when there is little or no activity with the refrigerator. It uses just the correct amount of energy to keep the refrigerator at the right temperature. This is where the energy efficiency comes into play, and it may save you anywhere from 20% to 30% on your electric bill. The purpose of this project is to design a three-phase inverter for use on refrigerator compressors. The focus of this project is to generate and analyze the performance of a three-phase AC voltage that will be connected to the refrigerator compressor to produce a maximum voltage of 220 V that gets the current supply from the socket. In this project, a three-phase inverter is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. At the end of the project, a three-phase inverter successfully produced three-phase voltage and run for load.1 19 -
PublicationTotal Harmonic Distortion Comparison Analysis between High-Power Density Inverter and Multilevel Inverter( 2021-01-01)
;Khalid K.A. ; ; ;The inverter is one of the most common things in converting electrical energy supply and it is a very important concept in the current modern electrical power system to utilize the maximum potential by generating the unit while considering the environment within the surrounding area and avoid pollution is the most ideal concept of energy management. The main purpose of this study is to consider which one of the inverters is more suitable for energy saving. There are two kinds of inverter that have been tested for this research which are the High-power density inverter (HPDI) and Multilevel inverter (MLI). In High-power density inverter (HPDI) it uses electrical components such as Insulated-gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) as the main component. As for the Multilevel inverter (MLI) it uses electrical components Metal- oxide-semiconductor field-effect-transistor (MOSFET) as the main component. Both inverters are being implemented and running by using MATLAB Simulink software. Besides that, the result is obtained by comparing the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the output of the waveform and energy efficiency for both inverters.6 25 -
PublicationComparative investigations on different types of inductors in single-phase inverterThis article organized in two sections where it compares the performance of single-phase inverters using various types of inductors with differences modulation technique of pulse width modulation (PWM). Not all inductors perform the same function, even the inductance value is the same. The study will investigate the capability of each inductor on its performance to convert the unfiltered AC voltage into filtered sinusoidal AC voltage. The drum core and toroidal core inductors were used in this investigation. For both inductors, the performance will be analyzed based on Bipolar and Unipolar switching schemes in a single unit H-bridge circuit. The validation of results are through experimental assessment only and it will be evaluating the shape of sinusoidal AC voltage and the content of total harmonics distortion in the AC voltage for both inductors.

PublicationPiezoelectric Array Configuration Technique into Enhance Power Catchment for Sound Energy Harvester SystemThe objective of this study is to explore the harvest maximum output changes occurs in piezoelectric transducer when connected in different configuration to produce highest electricity consumption and generate sound energy harvesting system. Acoustic energy is a type of environmental energy source that can be extracted and converted into electrical energy for small-scale energy applications. In this study, the corresponding load resistance for single piezoelectric transducer is 4.5 k$\Omega$, together with a constant vibration source at a frequency of 68 Hz and a 1-g acceleration. The performance of output voltage and power of piezoelectric are evaluated and the optimum output is measured by depending on the connection of the piezoelectric transducer arrangement into series, parallel and series, and parallel which stimulated using Proteus software. The experiment result presented that, when have single piezo, 5 piezo connected in series, and 5 piezo connected in parallel, the output powers are 1.664 mW, 1.671mW and 7.676 mW, respectively. During the combination series and parallel connections, the output power of 3S1P piezo increases to 5.05mW. In a parallel configuration, the output voltage that produced is much higher than a piezoelectric transducer arrangement connected in series connection. The piezoelectric transducer that connected in parallel configurations increases its voltage output from 2.83 V to 13.05 V with the same polarity. The arrangement of piezoelectric transducer in parallel configuration is affordable, with its higher production of a higher power output compared to the arrangement of piezoelectric transducer in series connection. Whereas in terms of power output, the maximum power remains constant in the range of 1.665 to 1.671 mW when three transducers are in series configuration connection with the same polarity. In conclusion, the proper implementation of the piezoelectric array configuration is needed in order to operate the minimum energy for low load devices and promise to accomplish generated optimum power output in harvester system.

PublicationInvestigation and Performance Analysis of DC-DC Boost Converter System( 2021-01-01)
;Mohd Muqri Syahmi Sulong ; ; ; ; ;Habelalmateen M.I.This paper presents the analysis of a closed loop DC-DC boost converter for renewable energy applications such as PV. Most of renewable energy resources produce DC voltage that implied with DC-DC converters to convert their input voltage into a higher or lower voltage level accordingly to their application. However, there are numerous types of devices or applications that used renewable energy. Thus, it means the evolution of using a closed loop boost converter system must occur. The closed-loop system DC-DC boost converter is used to step up the low-level DC voltage to a high level of DC voltage. By varying the input voltage, the performance of boost converter in terms of its output voltage can be obtained and analysed. Several studies were conducted and validated with hardware implementation. All the results are recorded and show that various levels of input voltage can be converted into a fixed value of output voltage by using this converter. To emphasise, the boost converter generated 73.33 V output when an input voltage of 12 V. Whereas this experiment is conducted to analyse the boost converter performance so that can consider if this converter is compatible with the IR dryer system.1 -
