PublicationThe influence of crisis emotions and attitude towards health information crisis behavior in social media among youth in MalaysiaSocial media is a one-stop centre of information that increased consumer dependency to seek and share information and protective action during public health crises. This scenario leads to the dumping of various information, including health information. Hence, the study is conducted to discover the relationship between crisis emotions and attitude in health information crisis in social media among students in Malaysian higher education institutions. This study utilized a quantitative research approach through a cross-sectional design. A total of 471 respondents from selected higher education institutions participated in the present study through a simple random sampling technique. Results showed that there is a significant relationship between crisis emotions towards youth behaviour. The finding also indicates that a moderately significant relationship between attitude toward youth behaviour. Analysis of multiple regression also shows that crisis emotions and attitudes were significantly contributed to the proposed model of youth behaviour in the health information crisis in social media. Thus, the model reflected the importance of crisis emotions and attitude as predictors of youth behaviour in health information crises in the context of social media. Emotion and attitude play a critical role during health information crises. Emotion and attitude are the driving forces behind the interplay of relationships on social networking sites. They can trigger online viral sharing that can spread both positive and negative sentiments like wildfire.

PublicationThe level of public satisfaction on the information from National Disaster Management Agency Malaysia (NADMA) social mediaThe level of public satisfaction allows an organisation to measure the performance strategies for continual improvement, especially in terms of disaster information that must be transparent to prepare the public to face an inevitable natural disaster. Hence, the study is conducted to discover public satisfaction with the National Disaster Management Agency Malaysia (NADMA) information on social media. This study utilised a quantitative research approach through a simple random sampling technique. An online questionnaire survey was conducted, and 501 respondents were from the public on social media who follow the NADMA's official Facebook and Twitter were collected. The results showed that the public was delighted with the information from NADMA social media. There were clear preferences that information prepared by NADMA on social media meet public expectations well. Theoretically, this study aims to identify the level of public satisfaction towards information from NADMA's social media. The results could guide the aspect of information management by disaster management teams during disasters.

The existence of social media makes it difficult for organizations to manage emerging crises. This concept paper is written to explain about crisis management based on the Social Mediated Crisis Communication (SMCC) model. The main purpose of this paper is to see the extent to which it can help in crisis management, especially in organizations. There is an explanation on the addition and simplification of the SMCC model to better facilitate the organization in crisis management and its main focus is through social media. Social media plays an important role when a crisis occurs because of its interactive nature compared to traditional media. The methodology based on previous studies explains the qualitative method used in the description of the addition and simplification of the SMCC model. The result of the concept of this paper is about crisis management especially social media crisis with the use of SMCC model. -
PublicationComparative analysis of public officers’ corruption framing in newspapers( 2018)

Individual news article on public officials’ corruption was the unit of analysis while the reliability coefficients calculated using Holsti’s formula resulted to 90.0%. This study discovered that in the framing of 2016 public official corruption issues, the newspapers varied significantly with p=0.002 and p=0.000 respectively on corruption frames. However, the study, anchored on framing theory, identified the economic consequence frames, the responsibility attributes, and the treatment frames in the corruption issues. Further results revealed that the economic consequence frame identified the financial losses with the total percentage of 63.8%. The Nigerian government was framed as having highest responsibility for corruption eradication with the total percentage of 79.6%. Therefore, the responsible government was recommended for treatment of corruption in Nigeria with the total percentage of 82.2%. While this study is focusing on the aspect of media frames, future research can attempt to explore the area of audience frames which is not covered in this study.1 22 -
PublicationDisaster information by national disaster management agency (NADMA) on social media during disaster: a qualitative perspectiveDisaster information flashing a warning news and preparing the public to face an inescapable natural disaster. This paper presents a case study approach to explore the disaster information prepared by NADMA on social media during disaster. In-depth interviews were conducted with disaster management teams from National Disaster Management Agency Malaysia (NADMA). It provides the coding frameworks for analysis of semi-structured interviews with five individuals. The interviews were transcribed and then analyzed by using software. Results show NADMA often provides current situation news and disaster help response information for the public. There were clear preferences that the response guidelines and disaster preparedness education were the most information published in social media. Theoretically, this study aims to enriched the study of communication especially in disaster situations. The results could guide the aspect of information management by disaster management teams during disasters.

PublicationPrivacy and safety of social media applications: The users awareness among students at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Malaysia( 2023-06-12)
; ; ;Nazri M.M.The development of social media applications has brought many changes and influences to the public in terms of communication and the use of communication technology. The existence of social media applications has made it easier for users to communicate with each other. Social media makes it easy for users to access information in their daily lives and it also has a positive and negative effect on their users especially to the university students. However, from a security and privacy standpoint, this will affect users because of their information and activities accessible through the social networks by irresponsible individuals. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the types of personal information shared by social media users and to measure the level of consumer awareness of privacy and security among students at University Malaysia Perlis. This study used quantitative method which is a questionnaire via google form which was answered by 218 students from University Malaysia Perlis. Data obtained were analysed using Statistical Package for Science for Windows Version 26 (SPSS) software. The results showed that there is no significant relationship between the type of personal information shared and the level of awareness about privacy and safety among students. This study suggested that the there is a need to increase the level of awareness of the internet privacy and security among students.2 29 -

; ;Suffian Hadi AyubThis study was conducted to enquire the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices of healthy lifestyles among students in Public Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA) in Kedah and Perlis particularly at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Perlis branch and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Data were collected from 422 students consists of 272 students of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), 87 students of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and 63 students of the University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Perlis branch using a questionnaire that was adapted from Burton (1999 ). In general, the study shows that students in the UniMAP, UUM and UiTM possessed an adequate level of knowledge about healthy lifestyle. In addition, respondents also have a positive attitude towards the practice of healthy lifestyle.2 21 -

This paper presents a study that discovers how the public uses NADMA's social media to access information during a disaster. Hence, this study focuses on National Disaster Management Agency Malaysia (NADMA) regarding disaster situations on social media. This study utilised a quantitative research approach through a simple sampling technique. Besides, an online questionnaire survey was conducted, and 501 respondents were from the public on social media who follow the NADMA's official social media. The term of public’s choice of social media and agencies technical were described. Otherwise, the frequency of the public seeking disaster information on social media was analysed. Types of information seeking by the public on social media were also explored. PublicationThe influence of YouTubers among teenagers: a study in Johore, Malaysia(AIP Publishing, 2023-06-12)

They are viewed as good examples and are regularly perceived in the streets by their fans. In any case, in spite of being well known online, outside the YouTube community they are simply an average individual that could be the person living nearby. Parents regularly do not think about the online behavior of their children and the YouTubers they embrace. The aim of this research is to give an overview of the current YouTube community, including what types of YouTubers will attract teenagers and what influence of YouTubers among teenagers in Johor Bahru, Johor. This study is qualitative research that uses indepth interviews to collect data. Participants for this study consists of Malaysia teenagers specifically from Johor Bahru. There are nine participants aged between 16 to 20 years old. They are selected based on a multiracial concept which is Malay, Indian and Chinese. The finding shows that there are four types of YouTubers that attract teenagers in Johor Bahru, Johor. Meanwhile, finding from this research also shows that there are six main influences of YouTubers among teenagers in Johor Bahru, Johor which consist of positive and negative influences.5 37 -

Social mediated crisis communication refers to the dissemination of direct and indirect information on traditional media and social media channels involving various types of users, including influential media, social media followers and social media inactive.
