PublicationThreading implementation on different hardware for travel time estimation purpose( 2017-03-06)The travel time estimation is one of traffic management system which provide time taken from one point to another point. Travel time estimation system consists of an embedded platform with image sensor for detecting and tracking the vehicle. Due to limited resources of embedded board, it makes challenging to measure the travel time especially for fast moving vehicle. Capturing system required a high capturing rate of the camera to capture most current frame for fast moving vehicle. Threading is implemented in this system to improve embedded board resource utilization and input-output latency between camera and embedded board. In this paper, the threading technology is applied to two types of Raspberry Pi model and the performance of the embedded board is recorded and analyzed.

PublicationDual downlink signals level balancing methodology for LTE user equipment test conformance( 2017-03-06)Receiver diversity related conformance tests of 2G/3G cellular devices either with multipath propagation or not typically would utilize RF channel emulator (or RF fader) to balance the dual downlink signal levels before reception by dual receiver antennas of device. The RF fader has capability to close loop output power level, so it allows user to set the desired output level. With this capability, dual downlink signal inputs into the fader can be level adjusted in order to get the balance and similar output level of both signals from fader. For receiver diversity tests with only static propagation which is default to LTE device, since it is in static propagation, fader would be underutilized for only diversity purpose. To be cost save, such balancing approach could be alternatively replaced with discrete components and software algorithm. A new setup is designed with this approach to balance the dual downlink levels in order to comply the receiver test conformance. This paper will describe about the methodology.

PublicationReceived signal strength indication (RSSI) code assessment for wireless sensors network (WSN) deployed Raspberry-Pi( 2017-03-06)Wireless sensor network (WSN) is commonly used for localization applications. Through sniffing receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) in WSN system, localization and connection to access point highest RSSI can be done automatically. In this paper, we propose Raspberry-Pi (RasPi), based best access point selection method utilizing RSSI metric. The RasPi brings the advantages of a personal computer (PC) to the domain of sensor network, which makes it the perfect platform for interfacing with a wide variety of external peripherals. This work aims to investigate various source codes deployed on RasPi for localization purpose by sniffing the RSSI metric. Consequently, comparative analysis of its key elements and performances with some of the currently available wireless sensor nodes have shown that despite few disadvantages, RasPi remains an inexpensive single board computer (SBC) which has been used very successfully in sensor network domain and diverse range of research applications.

PublicationVideo size comparison for embedded vehicle speed detection & travel time estimation system by using Raspberry Pi( 2017-03-06)As traffic continues to grow up, the issue regarding the road accident also growing quickly. The accident occurred due to the high speed of vehicles on the road. This paper proposed a vehicle speed detection and travel time estimation system using Raspberry Pi to estimate the speed of passing vehicles through this system. The system is designed to detect the moving vehicles and calculate its velocity. The system used OpenCV as an image processing software to detect and track the moving vehicles. Several types of capturing size of the video are used in this system to check and measure the performance of the embedded board.

PublicationConsolidation of host-based mobility management protocols with wireless mesh network( 2017-02-27)The number of mobile devices increases exponentially and it becomes the trends and needs of human. With the increasing demands for new data and real-time services, there is a need of wireless Internet networks that can support different traffic characteristics and different Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees. All these Internet network mobile device services are supported by the mobility management protocols and its affects the QoS of the Internet. Having known the importance of mobility management protocol, we consolidate MIPv6, HMIPv6, FMIPv6 and FHMIPv6 with Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) into one environment. We identify, analyze, and compare the performance of Host-Based mobility management protocols integrate with WMN in terms of latency, throughput and packet loss ratio. At the end of this research, it is proven that the design and development of FHMIPv6 with WMN performs better as compared to the others Mobile Internet Protocols over the Internet using NS-2 Network Simulation software.
