Tourism sector performance contributes to a large part of the Malaysian service economy (The World Factbook, 2013). In 2016, Malaysia faced an economic crisis, and it affects tourism sectors. Moreover, data from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) have shown that the number of tourists is decreasing at 1.5% in March 2016. This scenario has become a severe issue for the government because the Tourism Sector is one of the government’s important agenda in the NKEAs through National Ecotourism Plan. According to the MOTAC (2013), the nation's tourism sector is now the sixth-largest contributor to the national economy in 2014. However, inappropriate tourism development can lead to adverse social impacts. This research attempts to investigate the social impacts of tourism development on the local community in Perlis, Malaysia. Intends to develop and enhance its tourism sector to attract tourists to make the state as a stopover location. Even though Perlis records about 2.5 million tourists annually, most of them only pass through the state to continue their journey to Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Nevertheless, studies are still lacking, particularly those specifically investigating the perception of local residents towards tourism development. The perception of the locals is important since it could determine the extent of their support for tourism development. Findings reveal that the residents understand the tourism sector could strengthen the national economy, but they also want natural resources to be protected.

This paper examines the components of cost of quality (using the conformance cost of quality and non-conformance cost of quality method) in the context of Malaysian construction industry. Cost of quality becomes an important issue for organizations to consider since the cost of quality is one of the quality management practices (tools and techniques) to achieve the Total Quality Management (TQM) in an organization. However, in the Malaysian context there is still lack of researches that seek to understand the best cost of quality practices especially in construction industry. This paper attempts to discuss the conceptual model between selective quality management principles, conformance cost of quality, non-conformance cost of quality and organizational performance (OP) in the process of identifying the best practices for Malaysia construction industry. This study proposes four quality management principles and tries to investigate the effect of these principles on organizational performance. Since the relationship between the quality management principles and organizational performance is widely discussed by the previous researchers, therefore this study therefore aims to understand the role of conformance cost of quality as a mediating variable and nonconformance as an intervening variable in selective quality management principles and an organizational performance relationship. The outcome of this research may offer a better outcome in the organizational performances namely productivity improvement and customer satisfaction.

The design of furniture products is influenced by increasing consumer interest in green products and sustainability values. However, although the demand for sustainable furniture products is high, the standardization of sustainability characteristics in furniture design has still not been achieved. A thorough literature review was conducted, which considered various sustainability characteristics that apply in industries that design furniture. This review paper aimed to identify common sustainability characteristics so that a new standard for furniture industries can be established. In this review, numerous themes were explored relating to design guidelines, design criteria, design preferences, design optimization, design evaluation and assessment, design decision making, strategic planning, design strategies, the integration of eco-design, and eco-design tools. A total of 137 articles were reviewed regarding their sustainability characteristics according to the triple bottom-line framework for a relevant product sector. Due to the limited reports on the sustainability characteristics of furniture design activities, this paper also tried to include common sustainability characteristics of non-furniture products that are available on the market. Through the review, 10 sustainability characteristics were identified for the environment, 17 for the economy, and 16 for the social dimension as being common among manufacturers when designing their products. A further in-depth analysis was conducted by mapping the characteristics to those that were significantly implemented in the design process, of which five (5) were environmental, two (2) were economic, and five (5) were social sustainability characteristics. This review is significant in helping furniture designers to use appropriate and effective sustainability standards in the design and manufacture of products that meet customers’ demands. Previous literature reviews have not clearly measured the triple bottom line. Furthermore, no definite characteristics were proposed in previous works regarding wooden furniture design, leaving a gap to be closed by future works.

Performance analysis of different type PV Module for 3kW residential roof top PV System using PVSyst Simulation tool
The purpose of this article is to discuss a performance comparison of solar panel between mono crystalline, poly crystalline and HIT photovoltaic for roof top solar photovoltaic (PV) system. Residential PV power generation is a growing fast nowadays due to technology transfer success to everyone while also serving as a renewable energy source. Correct selection of PV modules possible to get a fast return of investment while wrong selection is vice versa. Three type of PV panel was applying in 3.12kW rooftop PV design in Selangor, Malaysia residential this work for comparison analysis. To make a fair comparison, the PV module analyse with same location, weather, orientation and losses. Simulation was performed fully under PVSyst software and looking at performance ratio system, a yearly balanced, effective output energy, daily output generation, system output generation, and yearly system losses. In this article the performance of three different types of PV panels is demonstrated. The HIT PV module shows the highest yearly performance ratio up to 81 % compare to mono and poly type. The normalized production with standardized variable to evaluate the PV output including collection losses, device losses and energy generated show the HIT type produces lowest losses while highest output. The performance of HIT PV module was good compared to PV module mono and poly type; this is due to the lower losses and high output produce significantly. The PV system's payback period can be shortened, and the PV system can perform better, if the PV panels are more efficient.
