Tropical algebra based adaptive filter for noise removal in digital image

The concept of the tropical algebra was first introduced to solve problems in mathematical economy such as optimization and approximation problems. In this paper, the concept of tropical algebra is used to build an image filtering algorithm. By using this concept, the lowest and highest pixel values are considered in determining the new pixel value. In addition, adaptive window will also be implemented to help the filtering process become more effective at high density noise. Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) are used to evaluate the output image quality produced by the filtering method. In this experiment, the performance of proposed method and existing methods such as switching median filter (SMF), adaptive fuzzy noise switching median filter (NAFSM), modified decision based on unsymmetric trimmed median filter (MDBUTMF), adaptive type-2 fuzzy filter (AT2FF)), based on pixel density filters (BPDF), different applied median filters (DAMF), and tropical SVD filters (TSVD) will be compared. PSNR and SSIM results show that the proposed method outperforms most existing methods: SMF (27.13/0.7954), NAFSM (29.11/0.8459), MDBTUMF (29.18/0.8462), AT2FF (28.10/0.8159), BPDF (25.65/0.7545), DAMF (31.20/0.8833), TSVD (28.39/0.7906), and proposed (31.26/0.8827).

Modified job shop scheduling via Taguchi method and genetic algorithm

To be in the competitive industrial world, industries required high quality, speed in completing the required work, and commitment to the delivery dates. One of the most important issues in the field of production management is the job shop scheduling problem (JSSP). In this paper, the researchers tried to solve JSSP of factory by presenting a method to improve the factory's production. Job shop scheduling (JSS) is a suitable method for solving these types of problems, which aims to improve the production flow through minimizing the whole operation time of the products. Moreover, considering the factory that depends on workers as same as machine, human factor should be considered while scheduling by using the workers' weightage, in order to improve the workers' working time flexibility in terms of their waiting time among their tasks by proposed model of JSS. In addition, the researchers proposed a new combination of weightage values by using Taguchi method, regarding to improve the workers' working time and using genetic algorithm (GA) to solve the proposed model of JSS. One of the factories which is located in Jordan, and it is considered as one of the important factories; nevertheless, it can cover the local demands hardly, and hence, it deserves to be as a study case for this research. The findings of the studies decreased the whole operation time of the products by saving 75 min for each production line and 90 min by using GA, and the proposed model improved the flexibility of the workers' working time in terms of their waiting times among their tasks.

Job Shop Scheduling Approach for Managing Tasks' Allocation Time in Factory

To date, in modern industrial competitions, there are several industries demanded a high quality in terms of efficiency, adherence of delivery dates, and speed to achieve a demand work. One company in Jordan, specialized to produce a glass utilizing advanced machines and high-quality raw materials, whereas, there is a difficulty to fulfill the coverage of local demands. This paper, the researchers aims for an improvement of glass factory to minimize the unnecessary issues. To do so, it requires an effective method in order to enhance the production process in factory. As stated earlier, the effective method is required in this study namely Job Shop Scheduling (JSS), it is appropriate method to be used to deal with unnecessary problems that usually occur and present a suitable schedule which can guarantee an optimal solution in terms of minimizing the completion time that required to complete the whole production flow. This study aims to enhance the flow of the production line by diminishing products operation time. Thus, recent studies highlighted the outcomes declination in the product operation time by saving 85 minutes using random search (RS) algorithm, and each production line by 75 minutes via classical computation method. Thereupon, solving classical job shop scheduling (CJSS) model, which related to the study case of this paper, via RS algorithm is more significant than classical computation methods.

Determination of flexibility of workers working time through Taguchi method approach

Human factor is one of the important elements in manufacturing world, despite their important role in improvement the production flow, they have been neglected while scheduling for many decades. In this paper the researchers taken the human factor throughout their job performance weightage into consideration while using job shop scheduling (JSS) for a factory of glass industry, in order to improving the workers' flexibility. In other hand, the researchers suggested a new sequence of workers' weightage by using Taguchi method, which present the best flexibility that workers can have, while decreasing the total time that the factory need to complete the whole production flow.

On cardinality of character sums with beatty sequences associated with fibonacci numbers

The main objective of this study is to obtain the cardinality of character sums with respect to non-homogeneous Beatty sequences, [α f +β] over Fibonacci numbers f . Thus, some properties of character sums associated with composite moduli over Fibonacci numbers has been extended. The estimation of the cardinality of character sums is obtained as the result of the study.

New white blood cell detection technique by using singular value decomposition concept: White blood cell detection technique

Segmentation technique is a commonly used method to detect white blood cells. The segmentation technique aims to separate the blood image into several parts based on the similarity of features in the image. Therefore, the detection results do not completely contain white blood cells but also contain other parts with similar features to white blood cells. This study proposes a new detection technique that directly considers the features of white blood cells using singular value decomposition approach. The experimental results show that the proposed method works better in detecting white blood cell nuclei than the existing methods. The existing methods only work well for white blood cells with dense color intensities such as basophil and monocyte. Meanwhile, the proposed method works well overall as it directly compares the level of similarity in white blood cells.

An overview of multi-filters for eliminating impulse noise for digital images

An image through the digitization process is referred to as a digital image. The quality of the digital image may be degenerating due to interferences on the acquisition, transmission, extraction, etc. This attracted the attention of many researchers to study the causes of damage to the information in the image. In addition to finding cause of image damage, the researchers also looking for ways to overcome this problem. There are many filtering techniques that have been introduced to deal the damage to the information in the image. In addition to eliminating noise from the image, filtering techniques also aims to maintain the originality of the features in the image. Among the many research papers on image filtering there is a lack of review papers which are an important to facilitate researchers in understanding the differences in each filtering technique. Additionally, it helps researchers determine the direction of research conducted based on the results of previous research. Therefore, this paper presents a review of several filtering techniques that have been developed so far.
