PublicationMedical staff engagement in public hospital: the role of citizenship behaviour and trust during COVID-19 pandemic(AIP Publishing, 2023)

This research is carried out by using a quantitative method through the distribution of the self-directed questionnaires. Simple random sampling is utilised in this research. The sample size consisted of 160 medical staff who have participated voluntarily to involve in the study. Based on the multiple regression analysis, results presented a significant effect of citizenship behaviour on employee engagement (β=.55, t=8.07, p=.00) among medical staff in this institution. Similarly, a significant effect of trust on medical staff engagement (β=.49, t=3.34, p=.00) is presented in this study. In the current scenario, the public health institutions should actively penetrate the elements of citizenship and trust in order to remain the desired level of medical staff engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. -
PublicationGender equality towards work family balance, political matters and gender-based violence: an empirical investigation in the Malaysian higher education institutions(AIP Publishing, 2023)
; ; ;Najwa Awanis Noor Azman ;Irza Hanie Abu SamahFaradilla SafitriThe goal of this research is to investigate the perception of gender equality toward several key terms related to measuring gender equality in Malaysian higher education. This research aims to reveal the perceptions of communities in the Malaysia's Northern Region higher education regarding a variety of issues such as work family balance, political matters and gender-based violence. This study employs a quantitative approach with the distribution of self-directed Google Form questionnaires. In this research, convenient sampling is used. The sample size was made up of 370 employees from those institutions who volunteered to take part in the study. In terms of work family balance, the results showed that most participants can manage their housework while also committing to their office work, with the exception of bringing up children, which made them feel difficult to balance. According to the descriptive analyses, the results showed a medium level of perception on women and political matters (μ=3.16), as well as gender-based violence (μ=2.10) among communities in the Malaysian higher education. In the current situation, higher education institutions should actively increase the level of perception toward work family balance and political issues, while decreasing or diminishing the level of perception towards other issues related to gender-based violence. This is to ensure that the nation's overall goals and objectives for gender equality are met. -
PublicationUsing confidence interval-based estimation of relevance to determine women’s emotions and perceptions of the Malaysian road environment during COVID-19(Conscientia Beam, 2023)
;Irza Hanie Abu Samah ;Intan Maizura Abd Rashid ; ;Wan Ahmad Fauzi Wan Husain ;Nur Syafiqah A RahimZulhaidi Mohd JawiThe road environment is one of the factors that contribute to road accidents. Extensive research has been conducted on the diversity of road users, conditions, and environments; however, it tends to be general in focus. In Malaysia, the road environment is an important element of the Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) agenda. As women play a greater role in a country’s population growth, they are considered to hold greater responsibility for the nation’s sustainability. This paper examines the road environment in Malaysia, centering on women’s perceptions and using emotions as a predictor. The study data were collected via an online Google form that was specifically targeted at female drivers. A total of 93 respondents participated in the survey. The results include an R2 value equal to 0.27 with a 99% confidence interval. The results indicate that emotions played a moderate role in determining women’s perceptions of the on-road environment. Meanwhile, respondents with negative emotions were able to separate their cognitive processes without affecting their perception. Current research indicates that the confidence interval-based estimation of relevance (CIBER) technique is efficient at predicting behavior and is useful for behavior modification in the future, which has significant implications for policy revision and recommendations. Limitations of this research include its focus on women and reliance on data collected during the pandemic, which may be different from other events or situations. Finally, this research suggests that it would be appropriate to establish future behavior interventions among road users at the national level. -
PublicationInnovative work behavior in the Malaysian manufacturing company: what really matters?( 2024)
; ;Junaid Ansari ;Hanim Hamdan ;Tiffany Tijang Sim ;Mohd Hazmuni SaidinNur Syafiqah A. RahimEmployees' innovative work behaviors (IWB) are essential for the organization as a whole to achieve high development and a competitive advantage in the market. Every firm must develop its system for boosting its employees' IWB as part of subsequent planning to attain the goal, particularly through HRM practices. We might have less information about which practices matter or how much they will correlate with IWB, but existing literature proves that they can have a significant impact on employees' IWB. The current study, therefore, addresses two aspects of HRM: training and development and rewards, to determine which aspect is most helpful in predicting an employee's IWB. The best HRM practices for boosting IWB should also be identified, along with the theoretical justifications for these methods and the relationship between HRM practices and IWB. We used a questionnaire survey to gather information from 170 employees of a manufacturing company in Penang, Malaysia, in order to analyze this research. The connections between all variables were examined using SPSS. In this study, the means for each variable were also presented. According to this research, a high mean indication with the values of μ=4.74 for rewards, μ=4.36 for training and development, and μ=4.70 for rewards IWB was found. The highest correlation between IWB and training and development was found in the Pearson correlation data (r=.362, p=.000), followed by rewards (r=.767, p=.000). The study's conclusions can help human resource practitioners design an HRM system that promotes inventive employee behavior and fosters an innovative workplace.9 1
