Abstract
The present study aims to analyze the variation effect of gender on the motivation, social support and goal orientation of the trainee in Malaysia. The study collects as sample comprises trainees at “GIATMARA”, a semigovernment owned training institution. Altogether 21 training centers in peninsular Malaysia were involved in the study. The data analysis was based on responses from 245 female and 96 male respondents. The data were collected via a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire contains measures which were adopted from past studies. Overall, it was found that female trainees registered higher mean values than males across all the key research variables and the differences were significant for all variables except goal orientation. The theoretical and managerial implications of the findings are discussed.
