AC-anodizing is carried out on magnesium alloy AZ80 in sodium silicate solution (Na2SiO3) with different parameters which are anodizing voltage (5 V, 10 V, 15 V, 20 V, and 25 V) and temperature (5 °C, 15 °C, 25 °C, 35 °C, and 45 ℃) of Na2SiO3. The effect of the parameters is studied on the AZ80 surface. The microstructure analysis of the AZ80 surface observed using optical microscope and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) determine porous AZ80 surface and flake-like magnesium silicate, Mg2SiO4. By using X-ray diffraction (XRD), the phase composition of AZ80 after AC-anodizing process indicated Mg2SiO4, SiO2 and MgO.
