Abstract
Partial discharge (PD) in a high voltage equipment is an unpredictable and undesired activity that directly affected the equipment insulation health in the long run. The current limitation of available PD equipment is the vulnerability toward stray or noise signal that ultimately produce false PD detection. In this paper, an integrated Filter-antenna for Partial Discharge detection and measurement is proposed and compared with the bare patch antenna in this paper. This filter antenna is designed based on a microstrip patch resonator antenna complementary with an additional parasitic flower pattern connected to T shaped resonator with a Tapping technique. The proposed filter antenna is excited through a single transmission line and a single port. The comparison is implemented between no filter and filter integrated in terms of; more intense reflection coefficient magnitude, bigger area with higher current distribution, and finally more concentrated of improved radiation patterns. Conclusively, the introduction of filter elements improved the overall performance and relevancy and is recommended for fabrication and future PD measurement.
