Abstract
Permanent magnet motors are widely used in industrial, commercial and transportation applications since they have high efficiency and high torque/power per volume. They are also considered as Green Technology which can bring positive changes for a cleaner and greener environment. This paper briefly outlines some of the policies and initiatives taken by the Malaysian government to promote and accelerate the adaptation of Green Technology in the country. These supportive measures indirectly boost the need for more improved and highly efficient permanent magnet motors in its applications especially Green Technology. Closely collaborating with the private sectors, the government and public sectors forged partnerships, not only profits both sectors but also the general public in the Green Technology sector. From the findings of Green Technology progress in Malaysia, the nation has shown positive growth in this area. From boosting Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV) including Electric Vehicles (EV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) in the local market, to the electrification of conventional bus-based and train-based public transportations, the Malaysian government has set forth to embrace Green Technology on par with other advanced countries.
