This paper describes different techniques used to enhance Tuberculosis bacilli in sputum smear samples prepared using the Ziehl-Neelsen technique. Improper preparation of staining process may result in under-staining and over-staining to some specimen. According to image captured, it is easy to recognize the single bacilli but for overlapping bacilli they were labelled as 'possible TB'. Some of the images has dark background that makes it difficult to detect the bacilli in the images. It is also difficult in obtaining accurate results TB image. This research will propose two method to improve quality of image. First method, combination of global enhancement and partial contrast enhancement. Second method, combination of local contrast enhancement and partial contrast enhancement. Both methods will be used on the TB bacilli images. To obtain good result on TB bacilli, a comparison of suggestion enhancement technique will be carried out. The result shows that the combination of local enhancement and partial contrast enhancement is the most efficient technique to enhance images.
