This paper presents a frequency reconfigurable rectangular patch antenna capable of operating at three frequencies. The reconfigurable mechanism of the antenna can be achieved by the implementation of radio frequency (RF) p-i-n junction (PIN) diodes across a T-slot developed on the feed line of the antenna. The antenna is designed using textile based material for wearable applications. The use of a full ground plane and T-slotted feed line with RF switches implementation enabled radiation to be directed away from the human body, thus minimizing absorption and ensuring user's safety. Most importantly, the antenna is frequency-reconfigurable for operation in three bands; 1.8 GHz, 2.3 GHz and 2.4 GHz, and is potentially useful for location tracking of human.
