Exploring the determinants of purchase intention on social media: A study among university students

The rapid expansion of Social Media (SM) has revolutionised consumer interactions with digital content, creating both opportunities and challenges for businesses aiming to influence purchase intention. This study investigates how perceived value, informativeness, and personalisation shape purchase intention on SM platforms among university students at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Malaysia. Addressing the need to understand the drivers of effective digital marketing, the research employs a cross-sectional design with data collected via a random survey of 375 students. Multiple regression analyses reveal that while perceived value and informativeness positively influence purchase intention, personalisation unexpectedly demonstrates a negative relationship. These findings underscore the nuanced role of personalised advertising and the potential privacy concerns associated with it. The results highlight informativeness as the most significant predictor of purchase intention, emphasising the importance of delivering relevant and valuable content. In contrast, personalisation’s negative impact suggests a need for cautious implementation to avoid alienating consumers. This study enriches existing literature by bridging theoretical insights with practical applications, offering actionable strategies for optimising consumer engagement in digital marketing. Practical implications emphasise balancing value delivery and addressing consumer apprehensions in personalised marketing to enhance consumer trust and drive purchase behaviour effectively. This research offers a foundation for future exploration of consumer behaviour in SM contexts.

Accounting information system usefulness for effective performance of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

The development and implementation of a competent Accounting Information System (AIS) is essential to the successful performance and operational efficacy of organisations, particularly in situations when management requires information that is both consistent and accurate in order to make important decisions. However, the precise criteria that underpin the applicability of information, as supplied by AIS, remain insufficiently defined. This is especially true in the context of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the state of Perlis. The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between financial performance, management performance, and organisational performance towards the usefulness of AIS in the context of SMEs. In detail, financial performance, management performance and organisational performance have been tested as the predictors of the usefulness of AIS towards the performance of SMEs this study. A self-administered questionnaire was used as the study sample in this investigation. The questionnaire was filled out by 233 respondents from SMEs in the state of Perlis. Results presented that a high correlation between AIS and financial performance (r=0.733). Also, results presented moderate corrections between AIS and management performance (r=0.631) as well as AIS and organisational performance (r=0.657. In conclusion, this research proposed a number of suggestions, the most significant of which was to draw more attention to the fact that AIS are useful for achieving an effective performance in the SMEs, particularly in Perlis.

Evaluation of end-of-life vehicle recycling system in India in responding to the sustainability paradigm: an explorative study

The growing number of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) engenders a genuine concern for achieving sustainable development. Properly recycling ELV is paramount to checking pollution, reducing landfills, and conserving natural resources. The present study evaluates the sustainability of India's ELV recycling system from techno-socio-economic and environmental aspects as an instrumental step for assessing performance and progress. This investigation has performed the Strength-Weakness-Opportunity-Threat (SWOT) analysis to evaluate ELV recycling in the long-term viability and examine the critical factors and potential. This research makes practical recommendations for effectively encountering persistent challenges in the ELV recycling system based on Indian values. This research adopts an explorative and Integrated bottom-up mixed approach; it interfaces qualitative and quantitative data and secondary research. This study reveals that the social, economic, technological, and environmental aspects of the sustainability of India's ELV recycling system are comparatively limited. The SWOT analysis demonstrates that potential market size and resource recovery are more significant strengths, whereas lack of an appropriate framework and limited technology are major challenges in the recycling of ELVs in India. Sustainable development and economic viability have emerged as great opportunities, while informality and environmental impact have surfaced as primary potential threats to ELV recycling in India. This paper offers insights and yields critical real-world data that may assist in rational decision-making and developing and implementing any subsequent framework.
