The three-way linkages of government effectiveness, FDI and economic growth: Adopting a new model specification for tourism sector

Recently, growth and development studies have started to focus on the importance of improving institutions of governance through government effectiveness on economic growth. Foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows are used to address the economic problems, such as government effectiveness and tourism growth. This paper has identified, after visualizing theoretical standpoints and empirical researches, that there is the linkage between FDI inflows and government effectiveness-GDP nexus focusing on tourism sector. Contrasting with previous studies, this study not only observed the degree of the association between FDI in tourism sector (FDIT) and government effectiveness (GOV) but also investigated the relationship between FDIT and tourism growth (TG). While the amount of literature on FDIT, TG and GOV using panel data and for singular countries has increased in the last few years, no research has identified the relationships among FDIT, TG and GOV together using a growth framework and a simultaneous equation model. The end discussions show that FDIT has bidirectional causal relationships with TG and GOV. Therefore, reviewing this chapter it gets confirmed that the research gap prevails in this particular area, that is, neither do a research conducted for evaluation of FDI inflows in tourism impact on government effectiveness and GDP. Thus, in the light of suggestion of theories and empirical literature, this chapter paves the ground of building up a conceptual framework that is to describe the directions in recognizing how government effectiveness and FDI inflows in tourism can increase government effectiveness and stimulate the economic growth and tourism growth.

Malaysia is now approaching towards Industrial 4.0. Many initiatives are taken by the government to improve in this digital era. 18.2% contribution towards country's growth domestic product was achieved in 2016 through digital economy which was targeted in 2020 (Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, 2018). This showed a positive sign that the world is accepting the era of digital technologies in many of the industries including in healthcare. The objective of this research is to determine the factor influencing zero-trust among employees in using technologies in healthcare sector. This research proposed a conceptual framework on Zero trust model for digital employees. The contribution in this research is that it may help Malaysian Productivity Corporation have some information that will be useful to Industry4WRD Readiness Assessment. Furthermore, this research hopes will give insight for Malaysia's National Applied Research and Development Centre (MIMOS) for National Internet of Things Strategic Roadmap.

Investigation on the Effect of Industrial Hygiene towards Innovation Performance: A Case of the Construction Industry in Malaysia

The construction industry is growing extraordinarily, progressive and profitable. It is one of the topmost sectors that contribute to the economy of a country. Even so, it is the riskiest industry as construction workplace has the highest number of fatality and injuries. Safety and health issues remain critical to the construction industry due to its working environment and the complexity of working practices. When related to health, hygiene is one factor to be observed, in which safety is a primary concern in the construction sector. Hygiene, being part of safety and health management in site plays a significant role in the performance of an organization. At some extent, ignorance of hygiene resulted catastrophically. The present study found the influence of industry hygiene towards innovation performance in the construction industry. The industrial hygiene which measured through few dimensions, i.e. hygiene knowledge, personal hygiene behaviour and hygiene personnel protection equipment are tested against innovation performance as the dependent variable. Following the comprehensive reviews, it is pertinent for the research to choose a quantitative undertaking, where questionnaires survey is the primary tool to collect the data among the construction companies, i.e., developers and contractors that registered with CIDB. The instrument will be developed to investigate the influence of industrial hygiene practices toward innovation performance. The research objectives will be achieved by statistically analyzing the collected data with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to verify the relationship between the variables.

The mediating role of adaptability cultural trait approach on transformational leadership style and job satisfaction in the work environment: A study on Malaysian GLCs

This study investigates the relationships between transformational leadership style, organizational culture, and attitudinal outcomes of job satisfaction of organizational members. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis is used to investigate the relationships between transformational leadership style, the mediating effect of organizational culture, and level of job satisfaction of organizational members. This study was conducted among corporate members at the mid-managerial levels in selected Government-linked companies (GLCs) under the GLC Transformation Programme (GTP), which are listed in Bursa Malaysia. The results showed that adaptability cultural trait has positively mediated the link between transformational leadership style and job satisfaction of members at their workplace. Traits in the culture practiced in an organization through leadership is the main element to design and to strategize on the way an organization works to deliver tangible and sustainable results in the future.This study contributes to the dynamics of the causative relations between the selected variables,and highlights the important role of transformational leadership and organizational culture in ascertaining the job satisfaction of corporate membersin the Malaysian context.

In the tourism industry, digital tourism documentation contributes to the development of destinations. The virtual environment encourages consumers to visit the destination. In addition, the second category of literature involves research related to virtual reality. The virtual environment has technically changed the configuration of the entire industry, and the world is very interesting. The virtual environment purely dominates the world of games, movies, and multimedia-related industries. In recent years, consumer perception behavior has been primarily affected by virtual reality. However, the tourism industry also pointed out in the literature that the development of tourism behavior through digital tourism is mainly cultural and heritage tourism. The results of the survey mainly deal with the motivating factors for the use of digital technology in the environment related to the development of tourism. Furthermore, research related to virtual reality emphasizes experimental research and few articles involve exploratory research.

The influence of UNESCO world heritage sites on tourism growth and poverty in selected Asian countries

This study enlist empirical analysis and concentrates on some variables such as human capital, market shares, heritage sites income, tax, tourism growth and poverty level. Data of observation from the year 2007 to 2016 is extracted to find out the relationship of the variables. Upon examining the study, a yearly time series panel data from the period of 2007 to 2016 in Asian Countries were used. Models, methods or analysis such as Descriptive Statistic Analysis, Correlation of Variables, Random Effects Method, Fixed Effects Method and panel roots test. The Descriptive Statistic Analysis resulted mean and standard deviation for both tourism growth and poverty level based on variables. This empirical proof of this outcome has demonstrated that higher mean will result higher standard deviation and vice versa. On the other hand, Correlation of Variables showed positive and negative relationship between tourism growth and poverty level with their variables, all the relationship is according to the rule of thumb. For the Random and Fixed Effects Method the value of coefficient determined the positive or negative relationship between those variables to the tourism growth and poverty level. The stationary properties of the time series were performed with accordance to the Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) unit root test. The results extracted from ADF unit root test indicated that under intercept and intercept with trend for tourism growth, all variables at level seems to be stationary a significance of 1%. The same result appears under intercept with trend. Lastly, heritage sites has significant influence on tourism growth and poverty in Asian Countries.

Risk Management Planning by Risk Register in Building Construction Project

This research addresses the common issue of vulnerabilities emerging during construction projects due to inadequate risk identification and analysis. It aims to mitigate this by creating a comprehensive risk register, documenting potential risk events, their causes, and characteristics. The main goal is to identify prominent risk factors in building construction projects and develop a risk management strategy using this register. The study used purposive sampling and considered 22 indicators, including human resources, cost, materials, equipment, and environmental conditions. Questionnaires were distributed to 50 contractors in the Banda Aceh region. Validity and reliability were confirmed through statistical analysis. The analysis showed that human resources were the most prevalent risk factor. Using a probability impact matrix, five indicators had medium-risk levels, while seventeen indicated low risk. Human resources, materials and equipment, and environmental conditions were identified as dominant risk factors, all at a medium-risk level. The study underscores the importance of addressing human resources risks through a structured risk register, which can significantly improve project management and execution. By systematically assessing and mitigating potential risks, project stakeholders can make informed decisions and enhance project outcomes in terms of timelines, costs, and quality. In conclusion, this research highlights the critical role of risk management in construction projects and emphasizes the value of a comprehensive risk register. Addressing dominant risks proactively can positively impact building construction projects.
