The aim of this research is to present the interaction study between muscle laceration and cortical bone fracture in a closed fracture. The two-dimensional model consists of muscle and cortical bone segment is done using Mechanical APDL (ANSYS) v14.0 software based on continuum mechanics approach. The research was conducted mainly based on different crack to width ratio and different applied loads. In order to study the muscle laceration and cortical bone fracture behavior, the strain energy release rate or J-integral has been calculated based on Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Constraint Integration (CINT) method using Mechanical APDL (ANSYS) v14.0. Three point bending test has been used for mechanical test until the model crack to width ratio reached 0.666. Various loading forces in the range of 1000 N to 5000 N were applied in order to study their effect on J-integral. Moreover, different crack to width ratio has also been applied in an attempt to study their effect on J-integral values. The results were analyzed based on statistical analysis and comparison with the previous research. The analysis shows that the J-integral values increased as the crack to width ratio and applied load increased. In order to increase the accuracy of the project in the future, muscle and cortical bone dimension should be based on real image from CT scan or MRI.
