Abstract
This paper presents the effect of grinding parameters of palm slag on the production of filler particle by planetary ball milling. It is known that most of the energy applied during the grinding process will be dissipated as heat that could be lead to harmful effects towards ground material structures. In this paper, investigation of the effect of grinding parameters (speed and time) towards the potential filler of palm slag was reported. The sample is ground at 300 rpm and 400 rpm speed with various grinding time; 30 minutes, l hour, 2 hours, 5 hours and 8 hours. It was confirmed by using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) method that the crystalline phase of palm slag maintained its crystallinity and not been deformed as the milling time and milling speed are changed. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) showed the morphological structures of unground and ground raw palm slag.
