Abstract
Injection moulding process is widely used to produce plastic parts. Plastic injection moulding process is known for its ability to produce parts with small thickness and highly complex at a low cost. The most common defect in this injection moulding industry is warpage. In overcoming this defect, several studies had been conducted in the effort of minimising the defect. By using simulation and optimisation method it will help to obtain an appropriate processing parameters without consuming a lot of time and money. A simulation was built using Autodesk Moldflow Insight 2012 in order to define the suitable injection moulding parameter. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) optimisation method was conducted using the Design Expert software to determine the significance of parameter and also the optimum value of a warpage. The most significant parameter in this study is melt temperature and by using the RSM optimisation method, the value of warpage able to reduce 13.54%.
