dc.description.abstract This project describes about the existing cordless drill by using the application of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) methodology, integrating functional and component relationships to minimize particular sustainability indicators such as energy consumption, carbon footprint, and a number of parts, required amount of material, assembly time and manufacturing costs. The method used for gaining the data is from the resembled the existing cordless drill. From the data achieved, it can be classified into several categories to be studied. Data would be analyzed by using Boothroyd Dewhurst method to verify the design efficiency based on manual handling and insertion time guidance. The tools that were used is CATIA software. The new proposed design of cordless drill is drawn by using CATIA software based on the result achieved in the analysis and the suitable material used for each part according to the sustainable requirement. Method to get the sustainable result is by using SolidWorks2016. From there can get the comparison different material use. The result showed that the existing cordless drill obtained. From the study, the total part, manual handling, insertion time and cost of existing design is obtained. Eventually, the improvement of new design cordless drill finally will be able to meet the requirements and satisfaction.
