Abstract
Nowadays, sensors are widely used in various applications. Hence, in order to improve this technology, a sensor using graphene oxide (GO) which is excellent in both electrical and optical characteristics was being studied. In this study, GO solution was produced using Improved Hummers' method as this method can provides more hydrophilic oxidized graphene material. In this research, GO powder were dispersed in 4 different solvents, which were acetone, distilled water, Dimethylformamide solution and N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone solution and hence observed the solubility of GO in these 4 solvents. The structural properties studied through XRD shows the d-spacing of GO produced in this experiment are in between 9.06 Å to l0.6 Å. Besides that, optical studied carried out by UV-Vis analysis indicated that GO dispersed in Dimethylformamide solution has the highest transmittance. Overall, our study establishes a correlation between structural and optical properties of graphene oxide samples with different solvents used.
