The injection molding process has become known for its ability to form complex part. However, it also produced defects, the main defects form in this process were the shrinkage and warpage. These defects may formed due to several factors which involves the plastic injection molding process. The Genetic Algorithm (GA) approach is utilized in finding the shrinkage percentage and settings in minimizing the shrinkage. The part used is the Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE). The processing parameters used were packing pressure, cooling time, melt temperature and mold temperature. The recommended shrinkage values by AMI simulation are 1.95% in x direction and 1.85% in y direction. Meanwhile for GA results showed reduction in shrinkage percentage in the x and y direction. They are 1.79% and 1.63% respectively. Thus shows the GA ability in minimizing the shrinkage percentage and finding the optimal settings in producing the part.
