BIM Modeling Techniques for IBS Buildings : Practical Guidance for Construction Professionals

2019 , Zul-Atfi Ismail

The main problem of Industrialised Building System (IBS) building management is the lack of integration in computerized technology. This is an issue in finding information, especially in obtaining detailed information on the design, nature, or type of construction material. Therefore, the main objective of this book is to focus on knowledge in the use of Revit Architecture and Structure that can integrate the entire process in IBS building management with BIM applications in improving the building design process. This book will assist the reader in understanding the construction management process of building components and BIM technology in the IBS building projects. The initial chapter presents the work process of BIM system components and describes the Level of Development (LOD) and Level of Detail (LOD) adopted throughout the BIM model. Implementation of an architectural component that tends to be applied in the creation of floors, doors, roofs, and ceilings is discussed in the next chapter. It also describes Revit top of footing in general and focuses on levels, footings, columns, slabs (lift), and foundations including the process of creating hollow structural columns components of steel columns, basic wall, slab on grade, thickened slab, and structural area reinforcement. The scopes and components of the Revit Architecture and Structure software are also presented, and concluded by showing the requirements necessary for effective use of model detailed design (LOD 300). In addition, this book identifies the importance of stairs and specific concrete framing technologies such as pan joists.

Autocad and BIM : advanced technology for construction industry

2020 , Zul-Atfi Ismail

AutoCAD technology today is considered obsolete and requires advance training to enhance AutoCAD's capabilities in building management. Many contractors and consultants are still not interested in learning this integration technology, especially those involving the revolution of 4.0 such as Building Information Modelling (BIM). Although conventional method like AutoCAD are still in use, they sometimes run into problems in the organisation, namely cost overruns and quality control over the number of building components retained. This book will assist the reader especially civil engineering students in understanding the construction management process of buiding component and AutoCAD as well as BIM technology in the building projects. In addition, this book identifies the importance of AutoCAD and BIM integration technologies such as linking, export and import data.
