The dynamics of financial retirement planning: financial attitude, health literacy, and the role of financial advisors with financial literacy as a moderator

Growing concern worldwide is evident regarding the insufficient retirement savings among individuals in both developed and developing nations. Many individuals struggle to make well-informed financial decisions regarding retirement planning. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the influence of financial attitudes, health literacy, and the involvement of financial advisors on the retirement planning of individual SME owners in Malaysia. Additionally, the study investigated the moderating role of financial literacy on these relationships. The theory of life cycle saving was applied to examine behavioral factors and potential policy measures that could improve financial retirement planning for these entrepreneurs. Participants included individual SME owners from the Northern region of Malaysia, specifically from Perlis, Kedah, and Penang. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was utilized to assess the interactions and moderating impacts of the variables in this research. The results indicated that financial attitude, health literacy, and engagement with financial advisors positively influence financial retirement planning. Moreover, financial literacy was found to moderate the effects of financial attitude, health literacy, and the role of financial advisors on retirement planning. These findings suggest that interventions targeting improvements in financial attitude, health literacy, financial literacy, and advisor engagement could significantly enhance policy initiatives aimed at boosting financial retirement savings.

Assessing the factors affecting road accident involvement among motorcycle riders using partial least squares structural equation modeling approach

This research investigates the factors that influence high numbers of road fatalities and accidents among motorcycle riders. This study proposes a conceptual framework that illustrates how high-risk road users, such as motorcycle riders, can prevent road accidents by fostering high-impact preventive countermeasures for sustainable traffic safety. Several critical variables on road user behavior related to road accident involvement are presented in a conceptual framework. The proposed conceptual framework suggested that behavioral factors such as anger, attitude, and sensation seeking affect the motorcycle riders' involvement in a road accident. Additionally, mindfulness plays an important mediating role between behavioral factors and road accident involvement. The proposed framework considers a comprehensive set of reviews rarely discussed in the existing literature. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was proposed to evaluate the proposition of the latent variables and their influence on road accident involvement. The proposed path model indicated that mindfulness has a strategic role in reducing road accident involvement, having an indirect effect through riding anger, attitude and sensation seeking. The study could benefit transportation authorities and agencies in Malaysia to execute high-impact countermeasures to reduce road accident involvement among motorcyclists in Malaysia.

Financial retirement planning among self employed workers in Malaysia: A conceptual investigation

Financial retirement planning is essential and critical for every worker especially for the self-employed workers to face their retirement. The purpose of this paper is to identify factors relating to self-employed individuals' financial retirement planning for their future retirement, and shed light on future research directions for future researchers. This paper revisits existing literatures on retirement policies in Malaysia and some countries in the world, and also on financial retirement planning. Financial retirement planning literatures suffers a gapping problem in term of the scarcity of literatures on self-employed workers' planning for their retirement. Many researches in the past put more focus on retirement planning behavior of salaried workers. By conducting a conceptual study on this gap, hopefully it will offer policy makers and practitioners new insights to search for new constraints, objectives, and sources of information regarding retirement issues involving self-employed individuals in this country. This paper provides backgrounds and insights on self-employed workers' retirement preparation for future researchers to study. As a conceptual study, this work derived from secondary sources. Hopefully, this study provides researchers and practitioners some understanding of each factor proposed towards understanding financial retirement planning among the self-employed workers.

The Effects of Financial Attitudes, Financial Literacy and Health Literacy on Sustainable Financial Retirement Planning: The Moderating Role of the Financial Advisor

Financial planning for retirement is essential to ensure that people have enough money to live the lifestyle they desire when they retire. Self-employed business owners in developed countries widely do financial retirement planning. However, in Malaysia, the percentage of self-employed individuals concerned about financial retirement planning is lower than in other countries. This study aims to identify the relationship between the financial attitude, financial literacy and health literacy of self-employed individuals toward sustainable financial retirement planning in Malaysia and find out the moderating effect of the role of financial advisors. The study utilized structural equation modelling. Data were collected through a survey questionnaire and analyzed using SMART PLS 3.3. The total sample size was 416 self-employed individuals from the northern Malaysian region. The findings revealed that financial attitude and financial literacy significantly impact retirement planning. Moreover, the role of financial advisors moderates the relationship between financial attitude–financial retirement planning and financial literacy–financial retirement planning. The result of the study will fulfil the needs of self-employed individuals to plan their retirement by including the financial planning determinants needed for a well-planned retirement.

Road accident proneness among motorcyclist in Malaysia: a structural equation modeling approach

Road accidents have alarmed Malaysian citizens all over the country. This study proves that a combination of human characteristics may contribute to the increase in the accident rate of motorcyclists on the road. Human characteristics such as riding anger, riding attitude, and lack of mindfulness may be the leading causes of motorcycle accidents. Malaysian road accident proneness research is still in its early phase. This study intends to investigate the relationship between riding anger, riding attitude, mindfulness, and road accident proneness. This study adopts a quantitative methodology employing a questionnaire distributed to visitors of authorised Yamaha dealers in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The results of structural equation modelling reveal that riding anger, riding attitude, and mindfulness substantially impact road accident proneness. The explanation of the current research contains significant theoretical and practical significance, as well as suggestions for minimising the accident rate of road users.

Purchase intention on cars among Malaysian in the central region of Malaysia

Profits are necessary for the survival of every business in the world. However, it may be difficult if the company is unable to attract new customers or meet their demands, particularly in a competitive market dominated by vehicle businesses that may rely on monthly sales to survive. Therefore, it is vital to determine the elements that influence vehicle transportation purchase intention. To this end, this study utilised a quantitative approach and questionnaires were sent to residents in Malaysia's central region. Successfully gathered 381 questionnaires, which were distributed to the respondents. Analyses were performed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software and Smart Partial Least Square (PLS) software. Demographic analysis was executed by using SPSS and Smart PLS to test the measurement and structural model. Various variables were analysed, including customers’ belief, product quality, brand information, and customers’ perception, that might influence purchase intention. According to the study's findings, customers’ beliefs, brand information, and customers’ perception had a substantial positive relationship with purchase intention. Explanation of the current research offers substantial theoretical and practical value and ideas for increasing vehicle company clients and sales.

Financial attitude, financial literacy, health literacy and financial retirement planning: moderating role of financial advisor

This study identified and tested some factors that affect financial retirement planning among individual SME owners in Malaysia. Concern the world over has been growing about the low retirement savings of many individuals in both developed and developing countries. This situation has been compounded by the low level of financial attitude, financial literacy, and health literacy and has been further complicated by less consultation from the financial advisor, causing most individuals to be unable to make good financial decisions. Individual SME owners from the Northern region of Malaysia, namely Perlis, Kedah, and Penang, took part in the study. The Theory of Life Cycle Saving and Investing and The Theory of Mental Accounting were used to investigate the behavioural factors and possible policy interventions for these individual SME owners' financial retirement planning. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used to test the relationships and moderating effects of the constructs used in this study. Financial attitude and financial literacy were found to affect financial retirement planning positively. In addition, the role of the financial advisor moderated the relationships between 1) financial attitude and financial retirement planning and 2) financial literacy and financial retirement planning. With these results in mind, intervention efforts targeting financial attitude, health literacy, financial literacy and the role of a financial advisor will aid policy designed to induce additional financial retirement savings. Implications and suggestions of the findings and their generalisability are discussed, the study's limitations are pointed out, and directions for further research are explored.

Safety is an imperative element within organisations, including the manufacturing industry in Malaysia, and prioritising safety knowledge is essential for establishing a secure working environment. This paper provides a comprehensive review of current research on safety knowledge, specifically focusing on the influential factors, given that this predictor has received serious attention in the occupational safety literature in manufacturing organisations. The review discusses the concept of safety knowledge, factors influencing safety knowledge and gaps in the literature in previous studies. The final section of the paper offers a discussion on potential avenues for future research and concludes with insights pertinent to this study’s findings.

Partial least squares approach for predicting turnover intention: The role of workplace violence and burnout among medical frontliners in Malaysia

The paper aims to investigate the relationship between workplace violence, occupational burnout and turnover among nurses in Malaysia. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 420 nurses at public hospitals in the Northern part of Malaysia. The results were then analyzed using the Social Sciences Statistical System (SPSS) and the Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) Partial Least Squares. The findings indicate that workplace violence and occupational burnout were positively significant with turnover. At the end of the paper, forwarded a few suggestions and recommendations based on the finding.
