IR 4.0: Smart Farming Monitoring System

The Internet of Things is the current and future of every field that effects everyone's life by making everything smart. The development of Smart Farming Monitoring with the use of the Internet of Things, changes conventional farming methods by not only making them optimal but also effective for farmers and reducing crop wastage. Therefore, Smart Farm Monitoring of IR 4.0 Implementation is designed to provide a system for monitoring environmental factors in farming in real time. This product will help farmers by creating an easy-to-use user view so users can view data. By implementing various types of sensors and applications such as Raspberry Pi 4B as its main controller, Temperature & Humidity sensor (DHT22), Capacitive Soil Moisture sensor, MQ135 sensor, Light Intensity sensor, ThingSpeak and ThingView, farmers will can monitor parameters and this data will be sent to the database for real-time display and storage purposes. The project is expected to create a smart environment conducive to agriculture and reduce labour costs and water wastage and increase productivity and efficiency. The system is achieved, as the intelligent monitoring of agriculture allows real-time monitoring with less time.

Comparative study of optimization algorithms for SHEPWM five-phase multilevel inverter

Conversion of DC to AC is widely used as an essential need for the power system to harness renewable power source in this era. Multilevel inverter is a mechanism which capable of harnessing these renewable energies. Unfortunately, harmonics occur in the system due to distortions and causing much unwanted problems at the power output. Therefore, the elimination of harmonics and reduce Total Harmonics Distortion (THD) are needed to maintain good power output. Application of Selective Harmonics Elimination Pulse Width Modulation (SHEPWM) can be used in the multilevel inverter to solve the problem. In this paper, optimization algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) and Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA) were applied for finding suitable switching angle for SHEPWM. The calculated switching angle was applied into seven-level five-phase multilevel inverter for various modulation indexes. In addition, the simulation of the multilevel inverter also done using PSIM software. The results show that the selective lower order harmonics, 3rd and 7th are completely eliminated for all three algorithms. In addition, the time taken for newly discovered algorithms to find switching angles for seven-level five-phase inverter is faster compared to PSO.

Experimental study of Bipolar PV Inverter for nonlinear load

One of the attractive options for converting solar PV DC/AC modules is a bipolar inverter as bipolar technique provide easy control and theoretically low-priced technology. A few drawbacks to this bipolar method, since it has a high voltage DC-link ripple, which can cause high harmonic inverter distortion. A smooth DC voltage is then needed to preserve the unstable voltage of the PV device in such a way that the overall harmonic distortion of the inverter is preserved at the regular stage. This paper will demonstrate the impact of unstable voltage from PV and connecting to the nonlinear load. The performance of the converter in term of efficiency and THD performance are monitored and reported.

Implementation of Two-Stage Multilevel Inverter System using PIC Controller

In this study, the Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel Inverter (CMLI) is described for use with infrared dryer loads. Because of the low harmonic distortion content and reduced voltage stress in the switching devices, CMLI is one of particular interest. The CMLI topology and the Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulsed Width Modulation (SHEPWM) technology were studied and evaluated. To evaluate the inverter, SHEPWM modulation was studied and applied. The system also includes a DC-DC converter. The converter was designed to be used in infrared drying system powered by direct current (DC) power where an increased output voltage is required. This study also presented an evaluation of performance using infrared load of the CMLI based on power used at 100 W. As a result, a comparison of input power was made, and an assessment into the converter's power quality in terms of harmonic content and overall efficiency was conducted. The implementation of the system by hardware had been able to reduce the harmonic to 15.5%.

Multiple Partial Discharge Signal Classification Using Artificial Neural Network Technique in XLPE Power Cable

According to partial discharge (PD) damage in the electrodes that are not entirely bridging, the presence of PD in the high voltage (HV) power cable might lead to insulation failure. PD defects can damage cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables directly, which is one of the most critical electrical issues in the industry. Poor workmanship during cable jointing, aging, or exposure to the surrounding environment is the most common cause of PD in HV cable systems. As a result, the location of the PD signals that occur cannot be classified without identifying the multiple PD signals present in the cable system. In this study, the artificial neural network (ANN) based feedforward back propagation classification technique is used as a diagnostic tool thru MATLAB software in which the PD signal was approached to determine the accuracy of the location PD signal. In addition, statistical feature extraction was added to compare the accuracy of classification with the standard method. The three-point technique is also an approach used to locate PD signals in a single line 11 kV XLPE underground power cable. The results show that the statistical feature extraction had been successful classify the PD signal location with the accuracy of 80% compared to without statistical feature extraction. The distance between PD signals and the PD source affected the result of the three-point technique which proved that a lower error means a near distance between them.

Develop portable blood analyzer based on temperature and quantity level

This technical paper presents a developing portable blood analyzer for monitoring of human blood sample. Perseverance of blood sample in hospitals is important in order to obtain a great quality of blood and therefore it able to determining the human type of disease. This is a life-threatening early step in most medical applications fields such as diagnosis, treatment and medical research. The proposed system consists of three main parts. In the first part, the use of convenient and handy device to deal with the problem of incorrect temperature value and inadequate quantity of blood sample. Most of previous human hospitality services show a fail to handle and properly in time to take human blood sample for diagnosis in a schedule time frame such as not punctual in taking blood sample from a patient in three different times in one day. The consequences is that these blood sample are not in perfect quality for a correct estimation of the human disease towards a pathology unit. The proposed method is a device that uses infrared temperature system and non-contact blood sample quantity detection. In the second part is by combining those two approaches to single programmable electronic modules that are used to minimize the size of the portable device in the resulting techniques to improve the functionality. The third part is accomplished by using a modern technique to produce an interface to provide the value of human blood sample and shows it on display for monitoring purposes. The programmable coding has been test in several different types of sensors and physical part. The experimental results show that this method able to integrate both requirement of human blood sample perseverance with a contactless method towards a blood tube, providing the output value of quality characteristic in a display and making it well-suited for a convenient practical application system. The experimental results in real time applications shows the effectiveness, reliable and efficiency in the proposed approach which able to almost accurately detect and monitor the human blood sample with the ability to detect different types of people gender and blood type. The proposed coding system can be executed at more precise time scheduling which is better than real life human monitoring system.

Design and Simulation of 2×1 and 2×2 Array Antenna at 5.8 GHz for Gain and Axial Ratio Enhancement

A low gain and narrow bandwidth of single microstrip antenna element will not accomplish a good performance in wide applications. In this paper, the design and simulation of microstrip antenna with an arrays for gain enhancement were made. The suggested design is made up of four elements of microstrip antenna in rectangle shape which associated with an array pattern. The antenna is operating at 5.8 GHz. Each element is created with truncated-edge of rectangular shape which had an inclined slot on each patch which realize circular polarized capability. The design of the 2×1 and 2×2 of rectangular microstrip array antenna was implemented from the designed of single rectangular element of patch antenna as the basic building element. The designed 2×1 and 2×2 array were fed by microstrip transimmision line which applied a technique of quater wave impedance matching. The antenna design was etched on Rogers RT 5880 substrate which have dielectric constant of 2.2 and have a thickness of 1.53. All the designed structure were simulated in CST software. The proposed antenna finally will compared between both 2×1 and 2×2 design in terms of gain, axial ratio and reflection coefficient. The simulated antennas resonated exactly at the desired frequency of 5.8 GHz with reflection coefficient below than -10 dB which indicates good antenna designs. The 2×1 and 2×2 arrays obtained gain of 10.8 dB to 13.3 dB respectively. The results show that the proposed designed have an improved gain performance over the single patch antenna.

Maximum efficiency scheme using superimposed and Taguchi method wireless charging for mobile phone

The magnetic resonance inductive coupling energy transfer from transmitter to receiver is designed in this project through magnetic inductive coupling. The transmitter sends energy through induction to the electrical devices from the transmitter to the receiver and then stores the energy in the batteries. Because the transmitter coil has a gap with the receiver coil. This wireless charging using two methods to show the output, first using the Taguchi Method and second using Superimposed Technique. The Result shows that output voltage must high than the input voltage and the same at secondary coil because using the same number of turns. The output voltage at the voltage regulator shows the output must in 5 Volts to charging the mobile phone with high efficiency.

Total Harmonic Distortion Comparison Analysis between High-Power Density Inverter and Multilevel Inverter

The inverter is one of the most common things in converting electrical energy supply and it is a very important concept in the current modern electrical power system to utilize the maximum potential by generating the unit while considering the environment within the surrounding area and avoid pollution is the most ideal concept of energy management. The main purpose of this study is to consider which one of the inverters is more suitable for energy saving. There are two kinds of inverter that have been tested for this research which are the High-power density inverter (HPDI) and Multilevel inverter (MLI). In High-power density inverter (HPDI) it uses electrical components such as Insulated-gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) as the main component. As for the Multilevel inverter (MLI) it uses electrical components Metal- oxide-semiconductor field-effect-transistor (MOSFET) as the main component. Both inverters are being implemented and running by using MATLAB Simulink software. Besides that, the result is obtained by comparing the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the output of the waveform and energy efficiency for both inverters.

Selective Harmonic Elimination of Five Level Cascaded H-Bridge Inverter Using the Newton-Raphson Technique

Multilevel inverter becomes an alternative for high power and medium voltage applications recently and is more popular in renewable energy. The cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter is more suitable for the Photovoltaic application because it acts as a separate DC source for each bridge. This paper presents a selective harmonic elimination (SHE) modulation for single-phase cascaded H-bridge (CHB) five level inverter. The optimum angle of the transcendental equations is solved the fundamental and harmonic elements using the Newton-Raphson (NR) process. The proposed selective harmonic elimination (SHE) scheme is tested using MATLAB/Simulink simulation. These simulation results are then verified through experiment using microcontroller. The proposed SHE is efficient in eliminating the 5th order harmonics and producing a higher quality output waveform with a better harmonic profile.
