A quest for experts' Consensus on the Geo-education module using Fuzzy Delphi analysis

Education for sustainable development allows each modern human being to obtain the information, skills, attitudes and principles necessary to shape a sustainable future. The word Geo derives from the Greek word meaning "earth," which can also be interpreted in the sense of land, global or Earth-related. The purpose of this study is to analyze expert consensus for the new educational module, Geo-Education. The objective of this study is to obtain from 12 expert views to build the questionnaire of Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) in 10 points Likert scale and consensus on Primer; Natural Ecosystem; Issues and Problems; Sustainable Lifestyle; and Cross-Curricular. The methodology of this research used quantitative fuzzy Delphi analysis. The instrument consists of five sections covering 25 review items for expert consensus. The findings show that experts have consensus agree on all 25 items which exceeds 75%, and all defuzzification values for each item exceeds the value of a-cut = 0.5. That means all those items are accepted by the experts. Fuzzy Delphi Method enhanced the accuracy of the questionnaire about Geo-Education module. This study has provided preliminary information on Geo-Education module aspects that need to be focused on Primary; Natural Ecosystem; Issues and Problems; Sustainable Lifestyle; and Cross-Curricular in the process of developing effective teaching and learning modules. The implication concludes that the Geo-Education Module can be used as guidance to the Ministry of Education Malaysia to supplement the teaching materials to teachers training institutes.

Performance and accountability for sustainable reporting and trust: An exploratory study

NPOs in Malaysia rely on public trust to exist. However, trust has always been difficult due to a lack of accountability. This study was implemented through a comparative case of NPOs in Malaysia. Performance accountability reporting practices are crucial because NPOs involve and potentially face implications for public trust. In this study, valorising on institutional work perspective was adopted as its theoretical underpinning and mobilized to trace how NPOs engaged in elective accountability. By using the qualitative case study, in-depth interviews have been done to gain insightful information related to performance accountability reporting. Interestingly, the findings of the study suggested that performance accountability reporting had been shifted to concentrate on the non-financial disclosures include social media platform that is relevant to the public. This study contributes to the new knowledge by understandings how NPOs strategy of accountability enhance public trust and, therefore, support their mission statement.

Validating the Usability Evaluation Model for Hearing Impaired Mobile Application

Usability is an important element that enables the identification of the efficiency for application or product. However, many applications have been developed for general users’ needs and are unable to provide adequate applications usage for disabled people. This study focuses on the development of usability evaluation model and the validation process on the proposed model through experts. The developed model later evaluated by group of experts through focus group method. Focus group method enables to identify the 13 variables derived to develop the model are appropriately placed and useful in the evaluation process. The results shows that the selected variables are appropriate to identify usability of mobile application for the hearing impairment through three variables tested namely, gain satisfaction with the model, satisfaction with the model presentation, and support for tasks. Conclusively, the developed model can identify usability of mobile applications for hearing impairment and enable in identifying useful criteria to be included during application development process in real life process. As future study, the model can be tested among the hearing impairment people and practitioner to establish the results obtained which contributes to usability practitioners and application developers for the disabled.

Online Learning in Higher Institution during Pandemic; A Survey on the Students Acceptance

The main purpose of this study is to provide a statistical data of student's acceptance on online learning focuses in higher institution level during pandemic COVID-19 in Malaysia. The respondents involved of 500 university students from selected local universities, without reference to their fields and levels of study. The questionnaires concentrated on the facilities of infrastructure for online learning and teaching, student's view regarding to online learning and also the level of stress issues due to the virtual classes. Owing to the fact that full online classes is not being extensively practise in Malaysia, the studies shows various responses and highlighted few limitations on performing an online teaching and learning. The statistical analysis was performed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) shows a reliability of Cronbach's Alpha is 0.828. This paper discusses on the cause of stress among students and their perception regarding to online classes. Further analysis on how to deal with the stress issues were also discussed.

The impact of viable supply chain management on sustainability in Malaysian manufacturing companies during the COVID-19 pandemic: the moderating role of government support

This study examines the impact of viable Supply Chain Management (SCM) on the long-term viability of Malaysian manufacturing enterprises during the COVID-19 epidemic. It specifically studies how government support can moderate this relationship. The pandemic's unprecedented disruptions have emphasised the vital need for resilient supply chains to guarantee ongoing operations and achieve sustainability goals. This study employs a quantitative approach to investigate the influence of effective SCM on the long-term viability of companies. Survey questions were distributed to a total of 488 respondents, consisting of upper-level employees of manufacturing companies in Malaysia. The study has employed a stratified random sampling process. The study utilise data from 197 manufacturing enterprises in Malaysia, which is examined using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings suggest that organisations with robust and flexible supply networks were more capable of sustaining their operations and attaining their sustainability objectives. Contrary to expectations, the data indicate that government support did not have a moderating effect on the connection between VSCM practices and corporate sustainability. To improve sustainability and ensure operational continuity during times of crisis, the report emphasises the importance of investing in and cultivating resilient supply chain procedures for industry professionals. The findings indicate that governments should reevaluate the processes and effectiveness of government support given to companies during disruptive events. This calls for a more nuanced approach to the development and execution of policies.

Disposable E-Tongue for the assessment of water quality in fish tanks

A disposable screen-printed e-tongue based on sensor array and pattern recognition that is suitable for the assessment of water quality in fish tanks is described. The characteristics of sensors fabricated using two kinds of sensing materials, namely (i) lipids (referred to as Type 1), and (ii) alternative electroactive materials comprising liquid ion-exchangers and macrocyclic compounds (Type 2) were evaluated for their performance stability, sensitivity and reproducibility. The Type 2 e-tongue was found to have better sensing performance in terms of sensitivity and reproducibility and was thus used for application studies. By using a pattern recognition tool i.e. principal component analysis (PCA), the e-tongue was able to discriminate the changes in the water quality in tilapia and catfish tanks monitored over eight days. E-tongues coupled with partial least squares (PLS) was used for the quantitative analysis of nitrate and ammonium ions in catfish tank water and good agreement were found with the ion-chromatography method (relative error, ±1.04- 4.10 %).

Smart factory governance for manufacturing SME a roadmap and practices in response to industrial 4.0

Malaysia is heading into a new era of digital transformation and automation. An innovative digital system enables to streamline the production of goods. In general, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has constructed a National Policy for Industrial Revolution 4.0. It encourages innovation to enhance its productivity and sustainability. In line with that, Malaysia's government introduced a smart factory to the manufacturing practices, specifically manufacturing SMEs. The Industrial 4.0 standards including highly agile, efficient and automated production lines integrated into technological procedures. However, the smart factory operates in a highly digitised environment involved in Big Data analysis, emphasising governance, risk management, and compliance. One of the significant issues faced within a smart factory includes the cost and scale to suit the technology used. Also, issues related to technological complexity always creating uncertainty in the business case. It hinders the decision-making process in the case of cost data overflow. Thus, the smart factory needs smart governance to assist in its decision-making. The study primarily investigates emerging critical elements of governance practices, risk management, and compliance that enhance product capacity. Secondly, propose an innovative factory governance model and its impact on Malaysian manufacturing SMEs' cost and production capacity. The study explores governance, risk management, and compliance implemented through the smart factoryin manufacturing SME within the lens of qualitative methodology. Simultaneously, the quantitative methodology uses to triangulate by optimising product capacity using different evaluation methods. Therefore, this studyaddresses the gaps by proposing a new smart factory governance model to fill the gaps in achieving the NationalPolicy on Industrial 4.0.

Sensors and machine learning and AI operation-constrained process control method for sensor-aided industrial internet of things and smart factories

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) incorporates intelligent computing and artificial intelligence paradigms in smart factories for ease of production and human-less interventions. The controlling unit is integrated into the smart operations in managing, controlling, and monitoring industrial operations. This article introduces an Operation-Constrained Process Control (OCPC) for preventing time-lag errors between smart machine operation cycles. The proposed method considers the operational cycles, completion time, and output efficiency metrics for identifying time lags and errors in production. Depending on the maximum productivity-based outcomes, further allocations or modifications in the regular operational cycles are identified. The productivity is analyzed based on the previous outcomes using federated learning. This learning implies multi-sensor knowledge update and production efficiency through repeated training. Therefore, the errors in cycle assignment and production completion are synchronized under controlled error. This method is analyzed using time lag, error, production efficiency, and training instances.

Parents satisfaction towards the childcare service centre: does babysitter’s matter?

Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance for a company to improve its management, service and quality. The aim of this research study is therefore to investigate what are the critical factors in the satisfaction of the parent with childcare services. By using the questionnaire survey, a quantitative approach was used. The questionnaires consist of 21 questions, including the profile of the respondents. The data collected was analysed using the SPSS software and the findings show a positive significant relationship between each of the variables that are babysitter's factors (babysitter's qualification with r=0.506 and p<0.01, babysitter's behaviour with r=0.506 and p<0.01 and babysitter's practice with r=0.303 and p<0.01) towards the satisfaction of the parent. The analysis of reliability, descriptive, correlation and regression were included in the running of the data. Therefore, on the basis of the research findings, the researcher suggests that the childcare centre should continuously improve its services, particularly in terms of qualification, behaviour and practice of babysitters.

Internet of Things in construction industry: A bibliometric analysis

The Internet of Things (IoT) aims to provide benefit and value to the industry, government, society, and academic and research groups in this digital era. This research gives a bibliometric analysis of IoT research articles from the Google Scholar database from 2015 to 2021. Based on the keywords used in the paper title and abstract, a total of 850 documents from the Google Scholar database were discovered. We employ several tools and techniques such as Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer for data visualization, and Harzing's Publish or Perish for citation metrics and analysis. The results of this study are reported using standard bibliometric indicators such as publishing trends, authorship patterns, co-occurrences, and top-cited articles. According to our data, since2015, the number of publications on IoT research has been steadily increasing. The top google Scholar cited per year belongs to the paper entitled "Prefabricated construction enabled by the Internet-of-Things". The findings of this study may contribute to the body of knowledge by providing a complete trend analysis of IoT in the Construction Industry papers published in the Google Scholar database between 2015 and 2021.
