Ergonomics study among operators in water-jet production area in aircraft industry

This paper is to conduct the ergonomics risks assessment (ERA) among the operators in water-jet production workstation area in aircraft industry, working with aircraft panels’ liners named Oriented Strand Board (OSB) and the aircraft panels which require forceful exertion, lifting and carrying task in order to complete the operation activity. The possibility of Work Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) among operators could occur due to their daily working activities. The objectives of this study are to conduct the initial ERA and advance ERA among the waterjet production operators. Twelve male operators had been participated in this study with range age 20 to 40 years old. Nordic checklist, operational interviews, observations, Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) tool and Manual Handling Assessment Chart (MAC) tool as part of advance ERA evaluation were applied in this study. The initial ERA results recommend for further investigation on awkward posture and forceful exertion among the operators in waterjet production. The results from REBA shows that all operators obtain high risk ergonomics score i.e. 10 scores for load weight and high repetitive in lifting and carrying task. The results from MAC validate that gripping mechanism during lifting and carrying activity requires ergonomics intervention for reducing the forceful exertion and high repetitive risk. The results from ERA, REBA and MAC assessment in this study are novel contribution in the aircraft production since the similar data is not exist yet. The results will be translated into measurable design parameters for waterjet workstation improvement in future design workstation.

A review: synthesis and mechanism of growth of the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) – graphene hybrid material and its application as electrodes

The CNTs–graphene hybrids have many advantages and potential for use in a wide range of electronic applications as electrodes. The CNTs–graphene hybrid structure outperforms the structure of each material in terms of characteristics and performance. There are several methods to grow CNTs. This paper reviews the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method used to synthesize CNTs–graphene hybrid material. This paper discusses the processes and growth parameters of the synthesis of the CNTs-graphene hybrid. This paper also discusses the growth mechanism and kinetics of CNTs. In addition, the potential and performance of CNTs–Graphene hybrid material as electrodes in batteries are also reviewed.

Progression in the growth of cylindric nanostructures: carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon nanofibers (CNFs) on graphene

The combination of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene produce a CNTs-graphene hybrid material with excellent electrical and mechanical properties that improved from their single form. This CNTs-graphene hybrid material has the potential to be used as electrodes and interconnects as it has better properties compared to copper (Cu). This work intended to grow CNTs on graphene using a CVD technique. The growth process used graphene on a Cu substrate with ferrocene as the catalyst, acetone as the carbon precursor and reactor temperature of 800oC. However, the process has unintentionally grown carbon nanofibers (CNFs). To observe the progression in the growth of CNTs and CNFs on graphene, the effect of growth reaction time is crucial. Hence, this work investigates the growth progression of the CNTs and CNFs on graphene based on different reaction times of 10 min, 20 min, 30 min and 60 min. It was found that the agglomeration of carbon is incomplete at 10 min reaction time and produced cylindric nanostructures. A further reaction time of 20 min and 30 min has significantly changed the size of the cylindric nanostructures into CNTs and CNFs with a very slight difference in the size, density, and coverage. The 30 min reaction time produced denser CNTs and CNFs with more uniform size and coverages. A longer reaction time of 60 min led to very long CNFs with an average length of 120 μm. In conclusion, meticulous fine-tuning of the reaction time is required to control the formation of CNTs and CNFs on graphene.

Critical success factors of service learning in tertiary education: challenge of online learning approach in ergonomics product design course

This study intent to investigate critical success factors of implementing online learning approach in ergonomics product design course embedding SULAM Project during COVID-19 pandemic. The first objectives are to interrogate suitable teaching approach implemented for PDET. Next is to assess students' satisfaction with the course in comparison to their grades after SULAM was embedded in SULAM in PBL component, as well as the impact of the pandemic on satisfaction levels. The third aims are to evaluate student perceived and experiences, as well as to discover relevant student recommendations that may be integrated into the next course offering. To achieve the study aims, a systematic literature review was conducted to investigate the current teaching and learning implementation in PDET course. OMR Forms and User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) were distributed to access students’ satisfaction and perceive experiencing in online learning approach. As a results, the course has been identified commonly deploys an inclusive design approach and integrating an interdisciplinary approach. However online learning and team cognition approach has been a significant change during COVID- 19 pandemic outbreak. This study extends significantly to the preparation of teaching and assessment techniques for future students, especially in unpredictable conditions such as pandemic and endemic scenarios, when lectures and students confronting various problems.
