Abstract
In recent years, there has been a significant increase of Room Temperature Vulcanization (RTV) coating on the surface of ceramic insulator such as porcelain and glass to avoid pollution flashover of contaminated insulator, to decrease the routine maintenance of regular insulator water cleaning, and to replace greasing of insulator and insulator damaged by flashover. In Malaysia, RTV coating started to be used since four years ago at one of cement industrial company located at the Southern Region of Malaysia Peninsular. The production of cement is in large scale thus, RTV is considered as an attractive solution to solve flashover problems in highly polluted area with relatively low humidity and dry climate.
