The elastomeric polyurethane (PU) nanocomposites prepared by in- situ polymerization of diisocyanate with graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) dispersion in polyol. Mechanical properties of polyurethane exhibited a significant improvement through incorporation of GNPs is observed. Morphologies study showed that there is a strong interaction between GNPs and hard segments of PU that allows effective load transfer. Two – dimensional structure of GNPs can help to prevent formation of crystalline hard segments. The tensile strength and tearing strength was improved by ~1.9 times by with the incorporation of 1.0 vol. % of GNP.
