dc.description.abstract Selective harmonic elimination (SHE) is favoured over carrier-based pulse-width-modulation (PWM) techniques in high-power medium-voltage application due to its superiority in harmonic elimination using a relatively low switching frequency. The performance of SHE in low-voltage application with low switching frequency is investigated in this paper. Unipolar and bipolar PWM techniques are added to analyze and compare their performances in term of harmonic distortion, fundamental output components and quality of output waveforms. Simulation evaluation of H-bridge inverter confirms that unipolar PWM outbid all techniques yet SHE is comparably has the same performances as bipolar PWM despite of the use of low switching frequency.
