A systematic literature review on logistics information needs for sharing in Malaysian disaster management

This exploratory study uses systematic reviews of published journal papers from 2018 to 2022 to identify research trends and present a comprehensive overview of disaster management research within the context of humanitarian logistics. This review is guided by the PRISMA Statement (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) review method. A systematic review of Scopus and the Web of Science turned up 23 related studies. Further review of these articles revealed nine main themes and produced a total of 42 sub-themes. Findings reveal that little attention has been devoted to the study of the information needs of humanitarian logistics during disaster response. The majority of previous research focused on disaster management before, during, and after disasters without comprehensively exploring the information required by humanitarian logistics providers for effective logistics support for disaster victims. The trends show that the information based on logistics needs presented is not significant. This study contributes to understanding past, present, and future research agendas and provides insight into current research status in information based on logistics needs in disaster management. Recommendations are highlighted related to using qualitative data analysis software, such as NVivo or Atlas.ti, as an analysis tool and practicing complementary searching techniques, such as citation tracking, reference searching, snowballing, and contacting experts.

The impact of the intangible heritage model on tourism performance in Malaysia

The growing concern of tourism performance has been widely discussed at national level. This issue is important because it reflect on the economic growth in Malaysia. Through the Tourism NKEA (National Key Economic Area), collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, other Government agencies and the private sectors are crucial to secure Malaysia's position as leading tourist destination and achieves the country's target at 36 million tourists' arrival and RM 168 billion in receipt by 2020. The target set under NKEA through the 21 National Ecotourism Action Plan. Given the importance role of tourism in the economy and the potential benefit from it, there is a need to make sure that the tourism industry remains both environmentally and economically sustainable. In ensuring sustainability of the industry, protection of cultural heritage is of foremost importance. Furthermore, sustainable heritage tourism development has become an important criterion in attracting tourist. In this sense, heritage tourism works as capable of fulling such requirements. Thus, through this research project, the establishment of new heritage model on tourist's expectation and perception such as intangible heritage, tangible heritage, tourists' spending behaviour, heritage as brand identity and tourism application will adapt to investigate tourism sector performance in Malaysia.

Social distancing has been regarded as a key method by the authorities worldwide to manage the pandemic of COVID-19. Digital technologies play a crucial role to support the social, professional and economic activities when people are forced to stay locked-down in their homes. Internet of things (IoT) technologies have a track of providing high quality remote health care and automation services which could guarantee social distancing while maintaining health and well-being of populations. Online payment transactions have make the negotiation effective in e-commerce as consumers did not have to go out of their house and go to the bank just to make a payment. Nowadays, there are many banks in Malaysia offers the online payment or online banking for their customers in order to make their customers satisfied with their services and to gain profit. Next problem that can lead to customers' dissatisfaction when online purchasing is fraud and security. Consumers always feel worried about their financial and private information being reveal to the public. Self-regulation by the industry, since the laws in Malaysia and other parts of the world are quite vague, educate themselves as to how their personal data can be protected to understand consumer rights and deficiencies of the law. The growth of Internet has welcomed more windows of opportunities for computer crimes. Statistics show that there are currently 26.3 million Internet users in Malaysia and is expected to increase to 29.4 million users by 2023.

Economic factors affecting tourism industry in Malaysia

Malaysia have many cultural heritage sites that become attractions for the development of tourism and technology. This study aims to determine whether tax, exchange rate, unemployment rate, and energy use in Malaysia could affect the tourism sector. Although gross domestic product (GDP) could be used to replace human development in monitoring economic progress and human well-being in relation to tourism, this definition is narrow and focuses on the economic side, and ignores social and cultural factors. The results show that the known relationship could act as a guide for policymakers in achieving greater social and cultural development in order to encourage growth. The methodology employed in this study appears to be very useful for policymakers in developing new approaches to improving the various factors influencing Malaysia's regional and global tourism industry demand for the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2020. In addition, the study provided well-considered policies to increase long-term improvements in the tourism, exchange rate, and service sectors through effective resource management and intelligent resource usage in the tourism industry.
