Thermal Properties of the Graphene Oxide (GO) Reinforced Epoxy Composites (Thermal Adhesive Liquid Type): Application of Thermal Interface Materials

Epoxy mixed with others filler for thermal interface material (TIM) has been well researched. There are some issues occurs when epoxy is used as matrix material likes non-uniform thickness of thermal interface material produce, time taken for solidification and others. New high-performance phase change material (PCM) using graphene as main material to overcome the existing problem and at the same time to increase thermal conductivity. Three types of composite graphene were used for thermal interface material in this research. The sample that contain 10, 20 and 30 wt. % of graphene was used with different contain of graphene oxide (GO). The thermal conductivity of thermal interface material is both measured and it was found that the increase of amount of graphene used will increase the thermal conductivity of thermal interface material. The highest thermal conductivity is 12.8 W/(mK) with 30 w.% graphene. The comparison between the present thermal interface material and other thermal interface material show that this present graphene composite is a commendable thermal interface material in increasing thermal conductivity and reducing thermal contact resistance.

A case study of industry 4.0 adoption for the manufacturing SMEs in Malaysia - Are we ready?

In Malaysia, the manufacturing SME's competitiveness plays a vital role in boosting the economy. The SMEs manufacturers need to react according to the changes driven by the Industry 4.0 concepts, which now become imperative for the manufacturers to improve their global competitiveness. To compete globally and aligning with the Industry 4.0 implementation, each SMEs can adopt by participating through the Industry4WRD readiness assessment (RA) program organized by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). Hence, the main objective for this paper is to conduct a case study to assess the current readiness levels of the SMEs, and to examine the relationship of various shift factors, thrust, and dimensions representing the key variables towards defining the Industry 4.0 readiness profile for the selected manufacturing SMEs. This paper presented and discussed RA case study methodology and processes of applying the Industry4WRD RA model to help the SMEs to identify the current baseline, gaps, and area for improvement plan towards Industry 4.0 full-scale implementation. The study has identified two manufacturing companies identified as SMEs A and SMEs B, which fall according to the SMEs definition by SME Corporation of Malaysia but in two different business portfolio in order to be able to gauge and compare the results quantitatively. The results will also focus on the qualitative finding of the Industry 4.0 strategy dimension between the two samples SMEs as a comparison and reference for future improvement and study.

The effect of graphene on thermal interface material in term of thermal conductivity

Thermal interface material (TIM) had been well conducted and developed by using several material as based material. A lot of combination and mixed material were used to increase thermal properties of TIM. Graphene prove to be one of the best material that have highest thermal conductivity in the world. In this studied, the effect of graphene as based material was used to increase thermal conductivity in thermal interface material. The sample that contain varies weight ratio of graphene were used in this studied. The thermal conductivity of thermal interface material is both measured and it was found that the higher wt. % of graphene can increase higher thermal conductivity. The highest thermal conductivity is 21.6 W/ (mK) with 50 wt. % graphene meanwhile at 10 wt. % of graphene can only produce 5.4 W/ (mK thermal conductivity).

Producing metal powder from machining chips using ball milling process: a review

In the pursuit of achieving zero emissions, exploring the concept of recycling metal waste from industries and workshops (i.e., waste-free) is essential. This is because metal recycling not only helps conserve natural resources but also requires less energy as compared to the production of new products from virgin raw materials. The use of metal scrap in rapid tooling (RT) for injection molding is an interesting and viable approach. Recycling methods enable the recovery of valuable metal powders from various sources, such as electronic, industrial, and automobile scrap. Mechanical alloying is a potential opportunity for sustainable powder production as it has the capability to convert various starting materials with different initial sizes into powder particles through the ball milling process. Nevertheless, parameter factors, such as the type of ball milling, ball-to-powder ratio (BPR), rotation speed, grinding period, size and shape of the milling media, and process control agent (PCA), can influence the quality and characteristics of the metal powders produced. Despite potential drawbacks and environmental impacts, this process can still be a valuable method for recycling metals into powders. Further research is required to optimize the process. Furthermore, ball milling has been widely used in various industries, including recycling and metal mold production, to improve product properties in an environmentally friendly way. This review found that ball milling is the best tool for reducing the particle size of recycled metal chips and creating new metal powders to enhance mechanical properties and novelty for mold additive manufacturing (MAM) applications. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research on various parameters associated with ball milling to optimize the process of converting recycled copper chips into powder. This research will assist in attaining the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness in particle size reduction and powder quality. Lastly, this review also presents potential avenues for future research by exploring the application of RT in the ball milling technique.

Design Optimization of Formula Student Car Steering Knuckle

The crucial need for capable vehicles to operate at their maximal performance has urged student teams to discover specific portions to alter, especially in ensuring a lightweight condition. For this purpose, designers have considered the redesigning of spot areas such as the knuckle and the certification of new designs with improved capability and reliability. The objective of this project is to replace the existing knuckle system of a formula student car with a new optimized design which demonstrates greater capability in terms of durability, lightweight feature, uniformity of applied force, and stability, particularly in the cornering performance during a race. Therefore, this project ultimately aims to develop a lightweight knuckle for a KKBD formula student car, applicable to withstand various loads from multiple sources. In addition, the study proposed competent material selection and manufacturing procedures for the knuckle component design. Validation of material selection was carried out via HYPER MESH software to discover the design durability by applying various load paths. The simulation results revealed the improvements of the new knuckle design in comparison to the existing design, wherein the load and stress distribution was more ideal. On the other hand, the stress and load distribution of existing design was more focused on the welding area and demonstrates fluctuation with alternating applied loads which may contribute to fracture during a race performance.

An Innovative Approach for Natural Gas Liquefaction Using a Mixed-Multi-Component-Refrigerant

The natural gas liquefaction is the most expensive and energy-intensive phase in the natural gas-to-liquefied natural gas-to-natural gas chain. In addition, this region has the biggest development potential. As a result, numerous LNG production methods have been developed and are deployed at export facilities around the world. The goal of this study is to describe and assess an innovative approach for mixed-refrigerant (MR) LNG method. The authors have dubbed this technique the MR-X approach. The MR-X process was developed based on the globally proven liquefaction technology C3MR and its large-scale successor AP-XTM (which offers many benefits and flexibility), but with a novel precooling phase construct. In pre-cooling and liquefaction phases, the refrigerant is a combination of methane, nitrogen, propane, ethane, butane, and isobutane. The paper investigates the creation of the MR-X technology, as well as its modelling, energy, and exergy investigations.

Comparison between cnt thermal interface materials with graphene thermal interface material in term of thermal conductivity

Thermal interface material (TIM) had been well conducted and developed by using several material as based material. A lot of combination and mixed material were used to increase thermal properties of TIM. Combination between materials for examples carbon nano tubes (CNT) and epoxy had had been used before but the significant of the studied are not exactly like predicted. In this studied, thermal interface material using graphene and CNT as main material were used to increase thermal conductivity and thermal contact resistance. These two types of TIM had been compare to each other in order to find wich material were able to increase the thermal conductivity better. The sample that contain 20 wt. %, 40 wt. % and 60 wt. % of graphene and CNT were used in this studied. The thermal conductivity of thermal interface material is both measured and it was found that TIM made of graphene had better thermal conductivity than CNT. The highest thermal conductivity is 23.2 W/ (mK) with 60 w. % graphene meanwhile at 60 w. % of CNT only produce 12.2 W/ (mK thermal conductivity).

Implementation of Industry4WRD readiness assessment (RA) model for industry 4.0

Industry4WRD readiness assessment (RA) model is one of the Industry 4.0 readiness assessment and maturity models that help manufacturing industry companies to identify gaps and improvement plan to implement the Industry 4.0 concepts. Industry4WRD is also in line with other global implementation initiatives and has the potential to be one of the practical worldwide guidelines and standards for the future of the Industry 4.0 implementation. Since 2015, there are various Industry 4.0 readiness assessment and maturity models were introduced, and Industry4WRD RA model is still a new model released in 2018. This paper discussed the methodology and processes of applying the Industry4WRD RA model to help manufacturing companies identify the current gaps and areas for improvement plan towards Industry 4.0. For implementation purposes, one of the manufacturing small-medium enterprise (SME), was selected to illustrate the methodology and processes for assessing the respective dimensions during a mock-up exercise. The designed rubrics with a description of criteria to facilitate the processes and methods are demonstrated with the computation of the final results, and the Industry 4.0 readiness profile been concluded.
