PublicationDesign and Fabrication of Jig and Fixture for Panel Pin Assembly in Power Motor Side Mirror(Universiti Malaysia Perlis, 2025-06-10)
;Vinoth Baskaran ;This research focuses on the design and fabrication of a jig and fixture to optimize the assembly process of panel pins for a car side mirror power motor. The current manual assembly method is inefficient, time-consuming, prone to frequent errors, and results in material wastage. To address these challenges, the study aims to develop a jig and fixture that enhances efficiency, reduces cycle time, and improves ergonomics. The methodology encompasses data collection, concept generation, CAD modeling using SolidWorks, and precision machining for prototype fabrication. Key analyses include time study, cost evaluation, and ergonomic assessment. The results reveal a significant 50.82% reduction in cycle time, from 4:04 minutes to 2:00 minutes, resulting in improved productivity and streamlined operations. Ergonomic analysis highlights enhanced operator posture and minimized physical strain, while cost analysis estimates the total fabrication cost at RM 156.26, emphasizing the design’s cost-effectiveness. This project successfully demonstrates the potential of jigs and fixtures to address manual assembly inefficiencies, improve manufacturing outcomes, and serve as a practical model for broader industrial applications. -
PublicationA study of new washing process which combines deflection and abrasion action(IOP Publishing, 2020)
; ; ; ;Abdellah el-hadj AbdellahThis study aimed to determine the optimum washing of laboratory washing model that design to stimulate the active washing process and passive commercial washing machine are compared in order to determine the best washing result. Variables of the study include water speed, washing time and radial nozzle inclination angle. The rotational system of an automatic washing machine has two major technical difficulties. One is the collision of the tub against the frame at the beginning of its early spinning stage. A factor that causes such instability of the rotational object can be attributed to the deflection of the liquid inside the liquid balancer due to the unbalance mass. Proposed a new washing technology and new design of the washing machine can be as a base of its new type. These machines have better outcome data; improve quality of washing process and effective use of washing liquid. New washing machine is simple design, does not have rotary parts at all and uses active process of washing process with squeezing of linens and more productive then known washing machines. Also, this machine can recycle and feed cleaned washing liquid. Additionally, in use of ultrasonic technology of washing process, new machine today will be perfect design. -
PublicationAn assignment slots solution approach for the two-sided assembly line balancing by using a hybrid semi-greedy artificial bee colony algorithms( 2023-04-24)
; ;Bareduan S.A. ;This study is about the implementation of the introduction of assignment slots to optimize the double-sided assembly line. This research was performed using hybrid Artificial Bee Colony and Semi-greedy algorithms. The main objective is to get the most optimal value. The introduction of this assignment slots is shown in detail in this paper with a total of 4 main cycles and P24 with CT = 18 as an example. Several tasks set with P9, P16, P24, P44 and P65 were tested with the same cycle time setting in the previous study. From the previous study, the partial fitness method has been tested and the results have been compared with this method. The results show that the introduction of this assignment slot is more effective to get the optimal value.10 19
