    Purpose: This study aims to explore sustainable development and business success (BS) through decision-making (DM) in Pakistan’s circular economy. Design/methodology/approach: This is a co-relational study in which the researchers used cross-sectional data collected from the managers of Pakistan’s manufacturing industries. Accordingly, the authors based this study’s findings on 373 valid samples. Findings: This study’s structural equation modeling results reveal that DM has a positive and significant effect on sustainable development, which comprises competitiveness, business performance enhancement, flexibility, customer satisfaction and technology development. Moreover, DM positively and significantly affects BS. Practical implications: This study’s findings support sustainable development, strengthen the socioeconomic conditions and bring about the industries’ well-being through DM. In addition, these findings demonstrate the need for the circular economy to tackle industrial challenges and simultaneously open up economic and environmental growth opportunities for society. Originality/value: This study offers the original contribution from a circular economy perspective; there needs to be more empirical evidence among managers of manufacturing industries. Besides, this study provides DM’s role in achieving sustainable development in the presence of BS, which has disappeared in an integrated way, particularly in a circular context.

    This study examines the impact of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance on corporate investment efficiency in China, focusing on underexplored dynamics in emerging markets. Using data from 3380 non-financial Chinese firms (2010–2021) and a fixed-effects panel regression model, we explore how ESG influences investment efficiency through the mediating roles of agency costs and financial constraints. Findings reveal that high ESG performance reduces agency costs and eases financial constraints, enhancing investment efficiency. Additionally, we assess the moderating effect of China's institutional environment, characterized by four indicators: marketization, financial development, government intervention, and regulatory quality. Results show that ESG's positive impact on investment efficiency is stronger in regions with more robust institutional frameworks. This study underscores the importance of adapting ESG strategies to varied institutional contexts, offering valuable insights for policymakers and corporate leaders seeking to promote sustainable growth across diverse regions.

    Purpose: The present study aims to test the impact of workplace incivility and violence on doctors' turnover intentions. Besides, the present study also tested the mediating role of employees' burnout. Design/methodology/approach: The population of the present study was doctors working in 20 public sector hospitals. Where 250 doctors working in emergency departments participated, the sample size was calculated through Krejcie and Morgan's table. The data analysis was conducted through SPSS and Smart-PLS. Findings: Results of the present study supported all the relationships except the relationship between workplace violence and turnover intentions. More specifically, relationship between workplace incivility and turnover intentions was confirmed, and mediation effect of doctors' burnout was also confirmed. Originality/value: This present study is novel in a way that this study framed the study model using conservative resource theory and social cognitive theory covering both employees cognitive and external factors. Further, the nexus “workplace incivility → workplace violence → job burnout → turnover intentions” was tested for the first time, hence making a valuable addition to the body of literature. Further this study is a contribution to healthcare literature in context of incivility, violence, burnout, and turnover. Burnout is first time explored as moderator with workplace incivility which is another contribution.

    The linkage among socio-economic indicators and life expectancy in selected ASEAN+3 countries
    (Inderscience Enterprises Ltd., 2023) ;
    Mai Syaheera Miau Shaari
    The improvement in medical technology indirectly contributes to increasing life expectancy. Besides, a good health service system can also help to overcome the various health problems. However, the rising on treatment costs, levels of education, standards of living and the drop of mortality rates can lead to a decline in life expectancy. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the linkages between socio-economic indicators and life expectancy in selected ASEAN+3 countries from 1991 to 2019 by using panel static method. The results obtained show that there are significantly positive relationships between education and health spending on life expectancy while interaction between dummy country and life expectancy show a negative relationship. Therefore, these findings are important for policymakers to formulate policies in increasing life expectancy based on socio-economic indicators for each country.
